“Climate change is a global problem with grave implications
Its worst impact will probably be felt
by developing countries in coming decades.
Many of the poor
live in areas affected by warming,
and their means of subsistence are largely dependent
on natural reserves such as agriculture, fishing and forestry.

They have no other
resources which can enable them to adapt to climate change
or to face natural disasters
Their access to social services and protection is very limited.
The impact of the present imbalance is also seen in
the premature death of many poor people,
in conflicts sparked by the shortage of resources, and
in any number of other problems
which are insufficiently represented on global agendas.

Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. A Prayer for Attentive Hearts and Renewed Minds

Lord of the quiet…
in a world overflowing with voices, demands, and endless noise,
grant me the grace to pause and be still.

Teach me to hush the clamor that surrounds me
and the distractions that crowd my mind.
Do not let me conform to the hurried pace of this age-
but gently renew my thoughts, my heart, and my desires.

Give me eyes that notice the tranquil beauty of your creation,
ears that catch your subtle whisper in the midst of the day
and a heart receptive to the seeds of grace you plant within me.

Help me to carve out holy silence each day-
a sacred space where I may recognize your gentle nudges,
listen to your loving guidance,
and trust the slow, faithful work of your Spirit.

Transform me from within, Lord,
that I may discern your presence in all things
and freely embrace what is good, pleasing, and perfect in your sight.
