The Lamb of God

Hebrews 10:9-10

Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

While I was reading this I began to think of when I learned what a second was when it came to a dual in the days of along time ago: a second would fulfill the dual requirements of the first if the first couldn’t do it.

How much did that have to suck; not even your beef yet you would have to die or end the life of another.

Yet this is exactly what Jesus did. Yes the lambs that went before him did the same thing but they were not the very true Son of God. The sins Jesus died for were not his own. They are ours!

This then brought to my heart another few verses…

Romans 5:6-8 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Lenten Challenge…

2 Corinthian 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The Challenge …
Captivate a thought a day and make it Christlike

You need black and white paper strips, a glue stick, white paint or a white pen to write on black paper and a black pen or black paint to write on white paper.

So our challenge goes like this… captivate one of your thoughts every day throughout Lent; yes even the negative ones, especially the negative ones. Pray about it! Write it on one of the paper strips. Use a stick from the earth (if you can find one underneath all the snow) and use the paint to write on the paper strips!!! The stick has a way of relating to the Ash Wednesday of the challenge. Also you may find yourself with log in your own eye moments 🙂. Pray about it. Meditate on it. Ask yourself what would Jesus say about this thought. Read the gospel; google it; pray some more; ask for his knowledge. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you! Write, draw or just hold your paper strip with the thought on it. Write all over the strip any new thought that God led you to. Glue it to your chain. While you’re holding the glue to set or waiting for your paint to dry thank God for the wisdom he gave you to transform your thought!!!

Here’s a few examples:

Example 1….this thought may have got into your head…as the world seems to be saying it allot lately…”saying you’ll pray for someone is really just saying nothing at all.” Actually the world says things like this so much it makes us not want to even say “I’ll say a prayer for you”

This is a good thought to take into captivity. What does Jesus teach us about prayer? Let’s look at his words…he has a lot to say about prayer. He teaches his disciples to take it to the Father when he teaches them the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 and Luke 11. He teaches us also through his actions as he wakes up and prays every morning. Really do you think the creator of all things would do something every morning that was nothing?

Example 2… a thought we may have that we could take captive is those that involve hate…whether it be someone you love, someone you consider an enemy or even yourself. Pray first and always, read all the beautiful words Jesus describes you and others in his word and how he tells us to relate to each other…. And chain it up!!!

Example 3… maybe you had a thought while studying the Bible. Maybe like me you have a thought that has been in your head and you just can’t figure out what it means. With me it’s John 21 and the 153 fish. (Not that I know what it means yet but by captivating this thought and pondering on it; it has opened the door to other questions and more meaning.). So my new thought is “who counted the fish?” Here you have the resurrected Jesus making you breakfast and someone decides this is a good time to count the fish. Furthermore and more personal like I have the written word of God set before me telling me about Jesus and his final earthly moments with his disciples and I’m stuck on the reason there are 153 fish.

Then on a day specified bring your chains and lay them at the foot of the cross

If anyone can transform us Jesus can!!!
