At Martina Spiritual Renewal Center, we seek to provide a place where God’s people may “come apart and rest awhile,” Come and be at peace.

Martina Spiritual Renewal Center is a ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit providing Gospel hospitality through the welcoming presence of our staff, offering Christian programming, and hosting groups of the Judeo-Christian faith tradition desiring growth and renewal in their spiritual life. At Martina Spiritual Renewal Center, we seek to provide a place where God’s people may “come apart and

rest awhile,”

– to hear God’s Word,
– to listen to God’s voice in silence and prayerful reflection,
– to be strengthened spiritually and invigorated with a renewed desire to be Christ for others, and to bring Christ to those whom they encounter in their daily lives. We extend hospitality and service to individuals and to all groups within the Catholic community as well as to people of other Judeo-Christian faiths. No one will be denied the opportunity to experience God and to grow in her/his relationship with God due to inability to pay. Under the light and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we strive to provide an atmosphere of peace and quiet at the Martina Spiritual renewal Center by our presence, our personal involvement, and service and human resources, as we minister with warmth and simplicity in a spirit of love and joy. We work always within the structure of the Church, always in accord with its teachings.

Well friends GREAT news from Martina . . . we are finally open for retreats again!!!
A temporary parking lot has been created so we can have retreats while they finish the site work over the next couple of months.
It was soooo nice to have people here again!!! Our first group came today, St. Killian's Women's Bible Study Group came for a retreat day. It was WONDERFUL! And . . . we are scheduled pretty much through the Fall🙂
Our website is down for now, but will soon be up and updated now that I know we can schedule programs. Thank you for your patience. Hope to see you all soon!!!

Happy Ascension Thursday!!! Tomorrow marks the beginning of our annual Holy Spirit Novena.
While we are still not open to the public due to construction/demolition issues and delays, we invite you to join us in our Novena prayer and reflection.
There will be a post each day on the Sisters of the Holy Spirit of Pittsburgh page.
You can join us there.
You are welcome to send you prayer requests, which will be included with the intercessions of the daily Evening Prayer (which is part of the Novena).
We will be keeping you in prayer and ask your prayers in return. Here's hoping we are able to gather in our new chapel in 2024 to celebrate together.

Dear friends, seems I deleted a post without meaning to . . . in case you wonder why nothing much has been posted these past months, it is because I have no clue what to say . . . It is most frustrating!
They said, "you can have your summer retreats." Then . . . oops, we are not going to be done . . .
Things change sometimes on a daily basis . . . but no one seems to really know what is going on . . .
Here are some pictures of the Martina parking lot and the remains of the old Motherhouse, which is now a pile of rubble . . .
Please know that you, our friends, are in our thoughts and prayers even though the Center is not open. Please keep us in prayers until we can be together again.

Well, dear friends of Martina, though the "dust" still has not settled here I thought I better give an update of some sort . . . thank you for your patience and continued support. Martina continues to be closed as we wait for the completion of the "Motherhouse Project" here on the property. We know that we will be closed at least until the beginning of May . . . and are praying that we will be able to open at that time. Please pray with us.
They finally started taking down the old Motherhouse last week (it was supposed to start in September). I must admit my heart is breaking.
I thought I would share some of the "progress" with you all, say how much we miss you, and ask for your continued prayers.

Dear Friends of Martina I know that I have been negligent in post anything these past months, but promise to do better once the "dust settles" after the construction/moving/deconstruction project on the property is finished. Today I have a prayer request. Sr. Mary Anne, our beloved chef here at Martina, is having shoulder surgery tomorrow morning. Please keep her in prayer. You could send a card or note to her at the Motherhouse or here at the retreat center. Blessing to all. Thank you!

Easter Blessings to all of our friends from the Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. This will be the last Easter celebrated in this beautiful chapel . . . the entire Motherhouse is slated to "be razed" sometime later this summer after the new Motherhouse is completed and the Sisters have had a chance to get moved across the driveway into the new building.

Spring has sprung here at Martina!!! Sorry I have been away from Facebook for so long . . . things here have been a bit crazy between Covid and the construction of the new Motherhouse here on the grounds. Last spring's flowers are popping up to bring a smile or two. Just thought I would share that smile with you. Even the Rhubarb is peeking through . . . check out all of the pictures here to see that one:)
