Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, commemorating Mary’s apparitions to three shepherd children in Portugal in 1917. The final apparition was witnessed not only by the children but also by a gathered crowd of thousands, including skeptics and a family member of our very own Monsignor Kozar. This event became known as the “Miracle of the Sun.” Marian apparitions such as this have brought millions to Mary and, through her, to Jesus. Four of them, including Our Lady of Fatima, are depicted in the Lady Chapel at Sacred Heart Church.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!

The National Day of Prayer is held on the first Thursday in May. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Truman.

It reminds us as a nation to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It invites us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people.

For suggestions on how and why to pray for seven centers of influence on our nation - our Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family - visit https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/equipping/prayforamerica
