In my own journey, through my son Christian’s life and even more deeply since his passing, I’ve come to realize what matters most in life, and it’s not trophies, certificates, or any accolade we might hold up as proof of our success. When people face the end of their journey, as Christian did, they don’t ask for awards or accomplishments. They ask for the people they love. They ask to be surrounded by those who have shown them kindness, who have shared laughter, and who have offered comfort. It’s all about relationships, connections, and love—those lasting impressions of care and compassion.

In Christian’s journey, he taught us that life is about showing up for others and making every moment count by being fully present. He lived each day by choosing love, empathy, and kindness above all else. His legacy isn’t one of possessions or titles; it’s a legacy of a heart that loved deeply and a soul that brought light to others.

I hope you don’t wait to figure out what really matters. Goals, accomplishments, and dreams are valuable pursuits, but without love, they ring hollow. True success isn’t measured by accolades but by the love we leave behind. Let’s remember that, as Christian did, and make every day count by choosing love, kindness, and grace. That’s the truest legacy any of us can leave.

Christian was a proud magna cm laude graduate of IUP, majoring in International Studies, Asian Studies, and Theater. His spirit, optimism, and love for life continue to inspire, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to speak about him at the place that meant so much to him.

I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on The Journeying Soul podcast, where I had a deep and meaningful conversation about my son Christian, his incredible spirit, and the lessons I’ve learned through grief.

In this episode, we dive into Christian’s story, after-death communications, and the ongoing process of finding meaning in the midst of loss. My hope is that this conversation will offer some comfort and insight to anyone navigating their own grief, especially other fathers who may be going through similar experiences.

Honored to Share Christian’s Story at IUP on October 23rd

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to return to Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Cook Honors College, where my son Christian graduated in 2020. On October 23rd, I will be sharing his story and the message behind What’s GOOD About TODAY?—a book I wrote to honor his life, his optimism, and his indomitable spirit.

Christian’s time at IUP meant so much to him, and I’m truly humbled to be able to celebrate his legacy with the IUP community. The program is free and open to the public, and I invite anyone who is able to attend to join us in Whitmyre Hall’s Great Hall from 11:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.
