The Story of The Salvation Army Family Store

The Salvation Army Family Stores originated in London, England with our founder and first General, William Booth. Through the three S’s of the Army, “Soup, Soap, and Salvation,” Booth began to clean London of its religious sins. In doing so, the original soldiers of the Army began asking for donations to give clothing to those in need.

This tradition carries on in the form of the Family Stores, especially in the Pittsburg, KS area. We’re proud to not only provide fully donated goods to the citizens of Crawford County, but to also know that we’re keeping our tradition alive and well.

Today, we’re beginning special campaigns to thank our beloved donors who have given to us so that we may give to those in need. Be on the lookout in the store, lobby, and donation entrance for special signs like this one to thank our donors!
