The International Friends of Pittsburg (IFP) is inviting community members to welcome new international students during its annual Welcome Dinner on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the St. John Activity Center, 304 W. 3rd Street, Pittsburg. Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The event gives local residents an opportunity to meet students from around the world, share a meal, and help them feel at home as they begin their studies at Pittsburg State University.

IFP will provide the main meal, and guests are encouraged to bring a side dish, casserole, fruit, or dessert to share. Volunteers are also needed to help serve the meal and assist with setup and cleanup.
The evening will also include information about the IFP Friendship Family Program, which connects international students with local families and individuals for friendship and cultural exchange throughout the year.

To help with planning, those planning to attend are asked to RSVP and let organizers know what they will be bringing by emailing [email protected].
Everyone is welcome to attend and help give Pittsburg State’s newest international students a warm community welcome.
