How Can We Trust the Bible After So Many Translations?
Let’s clear this up: the Bible hasn’t “lost its meaning” just because it’s been translated. God’s Word is alive, active, and unshakable (Hebrews 4:12). The original Scriptures were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. When they’re translated, scholars go back to those original texts—so it’s not a game of telephone. Plus, God Himself preserves His Word. Isaiah 40:8 reminds us, “The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God endures forever.”
But here’s the real kicker: understanding the Bible isn’t just about knowing the words—it’s about the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 14:26, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things.” When you’re praying, fasting, and seeking God, the Spirit helps you understand what you’re reading.
And no, the Holy Spirit doesn’t give people wildly different interpretations. God isn’t about confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). If we’re in the Spirit, we’ll align with His truth. It’s like plugging into the same source of light—everyone sees the same thing. So next time someone doubts the Bible’s reliability, remind them: it’s not just a book. It’s God’s Word, guided by His Spirit, and it always delivers the same truth.
