Summer Book Study | Inspired by Rachel Held Evans

“Inspired” centers on the idea that the Bible is a living, breathing, and confounding text rather than a static science textbook, instruction manual, or political position paper. Evans draws on her own transition from a rigid evangelical upbringing to an open, communal faith tradition. She invites readers to ask difficult questions, such as:
▪️Why does a book meant to explain life’s mysteries leave the reader with so many unanswered questions?
▪️How can a text that has historically given a voice to the oppressed simultaneously be used by oppressors to justify violence, misogyny, and slavery?
▪️What does it truly mean for a text to be “divinely inspired” when it carries so many obvious human fingerprints?

Our children at WPC were challenged to raise $500 for a local charity this year. The reward; pie the pastor in the face. They exceeded their goal and raised $700 for Munch Bunch in Piqua; a ministry that provides food for students daily. Here are a few pictures of their reward! In addition to all the work we had done on our building this past year, WPC has also gone through a "Digital Renovation." That means we got a new website, new church software system, and updated a few pieces of hardware. All this is an effort to be better equipped to serve Christ's Kingdom, Piqua, and Beyond. This past Sunday Pastor was installed as the pastor here at WPC. It was a wonderful service that celebrated God’s faithfulness and grace!

This past Sunday was Scout Sunday, which is a wonderful opportunity to welcome young people from Scout Pack 295 to lead our community in worship. Also, the pack celebrated WPC member, Billy Hegi, with an award of appreciation for 27 years of volunteer service! Congratulations Billy. Thank you for your faithfulness and dedication to Christ’s Kingdom.

Congratulations to Everly for taking home the title as the WPC Souper Bowl Champion! The 3rd annual Souper Bowl Cook-off was a great success - we raised $250 in donations as part of the competition for the local outreach efforts of Westminster Women. A huge thank you to everyone that brought soup for the cook-off and helped to host this fundraising event!

This evening WPC received a Beautification Award from the Piqua Chamber of Commerce; acknowledging and celebrating the renovations that took place is 2025. WPC was 1 of 12 recipients! The evening was a wonderful celebration of so many in our community who are committed to participating in the Holy work of building, creating, and investing in The Kingdom, Piqua, and beyond.
