Journey Through the Bible Day 147 1 Chronicles 26-29, Psalm 127
Continuing in true 1 Chronicles fashion we open todays Journey with names, after more names and then some names after that. These names are not just some random genealogy. These names are not just a family legacy. No. These names are people hand picked by David to complete a task in the Temple to be built. We see David preparing the future of Israel for when he was gone. This is something that many leaders fail to do. They fail to appoint, to train, to teach those who will walk in there path when they are gone. Rather it be the role of a Pastor, Husband, Dad, Wife, Mother, Business Owner, Governor, President, Local Officials. We all must train the next generation in how to carry on. The ways to seek after the Lord. This is exactly what David is doing. David knew his failures and how he faulted. Do you recall just a few days ago when David took an numbering of the people without being instructed by God to do so. This lead to the wrath of God being poured out upon the people of Israel. (1 Chronicles 27:24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.) David was wanting to number the people to check on God’s progress in the promise to make a mighty nation. So, often in Church we can get caught up in the same thing. We want to see numbers increase by great folds, we want standing room only in our Churches and this is great and wonderful. But it’s not about the numbers that arrive in the doors but about the life that is changed. As the Bible tells us many are called but few are chosen. So, lets not base our success by numbers in attendance but by souls dedicated. (1 Chronicles 28:7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.) David begins the ceremony of placing his son Solomon as king over Israel. He has prepared his son from birth to take on this role. We too must prepare our children from birth because one day they will be adults, on their own, making their own decisions and living their own lives. We must train up our children in the way they are going to go while they are in diapers, not when there teenagers. (1Chronicles 29:23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.) Solomon became king over Israel, David got to see the rise of his son, David got to see the benefit of his counsel and teaching before his death. There could be no greater pleasure in this life then to see your children succeed in a life devoted unto God, knowing they will carry on not just your legacy and teach it to the next generation. But they will continue to take the Gospel to the ends of the world once your race is ran. (1 Chronicles 29:28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.) The greatest happiness and peace we can have in this world is when we set our children free into this world is that they know the truth of God and His Word. (Psalm 127:5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.) Can I just say that I am a very happy man today. May God bless you ALL today!!

Journey Through the Bible Day 145 1 Chronicles 23-25
(1 Chronicles 23:1 When David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.)
In todays Journey we see a new king appointed over Israel. David passes his mantel of king unto his son Solomon. This one verse is all we get about this passing of the throne. One may thing there would be more detail about this significant event, and you would be right. In the coming days we will see more about the changing of the kingship. But we must take into consideration to the book we are reading in. Chronicles has not been a book about personal character and neither does it spend much time on what the importance an individual may have. Chronicles is a book that is seen as historical records. This is why we see the large genealogies. In our past days of readings we have seen where David was not given the pleasure of building the temple due to his many wars and the blood he shed and lets not forget his many sins. Let us always remember that every choice we make will have consequences that come with them. But David was put in charge of gathering the materials for the temple, so Solomon could build it. (1 Chronicles 23:25 For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.) We witness that the building of the temple will give the people of Israel rest and peace. Let us remember back to the building of the tabernacle all the work and having to move it and set it up, over and over and over again. This was there relationship with God it was always on the move. Now because of the Temple they will have a permanent place of worship and fixed point. (1 Chronicles 23:26 And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.”) This Temple will be the most significant structure ever built for this people. We can not even begin to understand the importance of this Temple to them. This Tabernacle and now Temple is where the Spirit of God resided at. Thanks be to Jesus Christ and His Death, Burial, and Resurrection and the Shedding of His Presious Blood upon the Cross at Calvary the Holy Spirit now resides within us that choose to believe in Him. So, instead of us having to go to the Temple to engage with the Spirit. The Spirit now resides within us. This is the exact reason our body is called the Temple of God and why we as Born Again Blood Bought CHRISTians must keep this Temple clean and presentable for His Presence. (1 Chronicles 23:27 For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.) David, continues in his last words to appoint and number the people who will keep the Temple. For us to see the importance of the Temple and the God has chosen to place this dwelling place of His Spirit into the hearts of those who love Him shows us the Love the father has for us. May God bless you ALL today!

Journey Through the Bible Day 143 2 Samuel 24, 1 Chronicles 21-22, Psalm 30
(2 Samuel 24:1 And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.)
(1Chronicles 21:1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.)
In today’s Journey we see something interesting happen. Many will say the scripture contradicts its self here. We see in 2 Samuel that it says the LORD moved David and in 1 Chronicles satan provoked David. So, how can it be both? In this account we see the cunningness of satan. We know that satan is the most cunning and sly creature ever. We know he deceived Eve in the garden of Eden, and if we let our guard down he will also deceive us. (2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.) We see elsewhere in the scripture that satan can appear as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.) We need to be very careful in what we see, entertain and preserve in this world. Just because it looks good does not mean it will be good. David has let his guard down and what he thought was God leading him was actually satan deceiving him. We need to understand and make ourselves aware to the fact that when satan temps us he will not appear with red skin, holding a pitchfork, and have horns as many people will describe him. satan knows exactly how to temp you and me and that is exactly how he will appear to us. (1 Chronicles 21:3 And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?) Joab questions this decision of David knowing it was not from God. This is why a Church family is so important we must keep an eye over each other and protect each other on ever account. Many people will react in hate and anger but I see it as Love. You may see something in my life that I have been blinded of and I need you to help me see the truth as you should need me and as we need each other. Even Christ warns us to be on the lookout for this great deception. (Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.) The Bible goes on to tell of a great falling away of the Church before the coming of the Lord. (2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;) So, let us keep our Spiritual eyes open, let us be on the lookout for each other. If a Brother or Sister approaches us with a matter let us receive them with love and not anger. None of us are beyond the reproach of being deceived by satan if we let our guard down. Let us study to show ourselves approved. May God bless you ALL today!

Journey Through the Bible Day 142 Psalms 95, 97-99
(Psalm 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.)
Yesterday we seen David lift Praise , Honor, and Glory to God for being King of kings. Today we continue this same truth. This simply truth is that God is the Rock of our Salvation and we are to make a joyful noise unto Him for all he has done and continues to do. Not only is God praised as King of kings. (Psalm 95:3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.) Our God is a Great God and the only true and living God and His Kingship even resides all other gods. (Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.) Because of this Great Authority that our God has let us worship Him as our Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and Savior. (Psalm 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,) We are His sheep and He is our Shepherd. Jesus Christ the Son of God our Hight Priest, our Shepherd, our Lord and Savior came and Shed His Precious Blood upon the Cross at Calvary so that the world and a whosoever can receive His Salvation we see this truth that God has a plan for His people. (Psalm 97:1 The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.) Notice this call to rejoice is not just to one people, one nation, one language or tribe but it’s a call for the whole earth to rejoice. (Psalm 98:3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.) This author was writing of the great victory the Israel had in all the conquests of David as there king. But today this verse speaks volume to us as the world knows the Salvation of our God and the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We must understand that this Salvation is made available to everyone but not all will choose this path that the Good Shepherd has forged for us through His Death, Burial, and Resurrection. There is coming a day that the world will not only see it but they will hear it, see it, feel it. There is a day coming for each of us that we will face death and my bible tells me that after death comes the judgement. None of us will escape this death and this judgement. (Psalm 99:4 The King's strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.) When we stand before God in judgement He is not going to take into account who all liked you on this earth, it will not sway Him by the good deeds you have done or the charities you donated to. God will not be impressed by your social status, bank account, house, vehicles or how fancy you dress. God is a God of equity, which the quality of being fair and just. We will all stand before God and His judgement will be cast not by who or what we are but by the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ. He will execute judgement by His Righteous Right Hand. Praise the Lord it is Jesus the Christ that is setting on the Right Hand of God. So, I pray if you do not know Jesus as your personal Lord, Savior, Master and King today that you will run to Him in a mighty way. Seek the Lord today while He may be found. May God Bless you ALL today!

Journey Through the Bible Day 141 2 Samuel 22-23, Psalm 57
(2 Samuel 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.)
In our Journey Through the Bible the Life of David is coming to an end. We start to recap what God has done I David’s life. We need to understand also that this time of death is coming for each and everyone of us. Can you put claim to what David is saying the God is your rock? Have you put your trust in Him? Is He your shield? Is He your Salvation? Your Refuge? Your Saviour? If God is not all of these to you today then will you humbly accept Him. Jesus Christ the Son of God has already went to the Cross at Calvary! His Precious Blood has already been Shed! The One who knew no sin has already became sin for your benefit! He has already defeated death, hell and the grave! He has already arose in a Glorious Resurrection! Jesus the Christ has already done all of this. Now He sets on the right hand of God making intercession for you and for me and for the whosoever that will call upon His name in Belief, Faith, Repentance and Obedience. If you have not gained your Salvation with God will you ask Him into your life today? As we continue in this song that David is singing we find another attribute that we may all fall into with David. (2 Samuel 22:22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.) In this sentence David is not claiming to have never sinned. We know David fell short of the Glory of God, we know that David sinned, in like manner we know that we have sinned also. As the Bible declares that we have ALL sinned and come short of the Glory of God. This includes you as it does me and as it did David and every person to ever take the breath of Life. But David never departed from God. We can not allow our past to define who we are today. Yes we will all mess up, Yes we will all fall short, Yes we will all sin, Yes Jesus went to the Cross to forgive us of our sins and cast them away. As Jesus tells us I will never leave you nor forsake you. Just because we may stumble and trip lets not depart from God but let us run even harder unto Him. (2 Samuel 23:1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,) There will come a day that each and every one of us will speak our last words. We will say our last goodbye on this side of death. We will close our physical eyes for the last time, and depending on where your heart is fixed will determine where you will spend eternity. (Psalm 57:7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.) We see that David’s heart is fixed on the Lord. I pray that yours is also. May God bless you ALL today!

Journey Through the Bible Day 140 Psalm 5, 38, 41-42
(Psalm 5:2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.)
Today we journey back to the book of Psalms and we find David crying out to God in prayer. Even though David is king over the nation of Israel once again we see David address God as the one true King. We know God to be King of kings, and Lord of lords. He is Alpha and Omega. God is the One who created ALL things and that includes you and me. I hope and pray today that you too can call God your King. David is praying and seeking guidance through a difficult time. (Psalm 5:8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.) One thig we have learned about David is that he had many enemies, he had many people wishing to alter his coarse. David had a rough coarse set before him. Not because God designed it to be rough but now David must live with the consequences he made from previous sinful choices. Can we remember back to when David was a man after God’s own heart, when he was the first to set out on the battlefield, with just the sight of David leading the army of God it caused the enemy to retreat. But after David got relaxed in his relationship with God and sent the army out without him everything changed. It is so important that we must understand that even though God did forgive David of his sin. David still had the consequences he had to live with the rest of his life. We all have consequences to deal with from past choices. But David knows that God will still direct him and protect him just as He will each and every one of us. (Psalm 5:12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.) David knows and realizes that all this pain and suffering physically. Mentally, Spiritually, is not from God but from his own sinful ways. (Psalm 38:4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.) It’s important that we realize this same thing. I’ve seen so many people be mad at God because of there current situation when its simply the consequences to the choices that they have made on there own free will and accord. (Psalm 41:4 I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.) David is lead to repentance again and again. This is such an important teaching point right here. We are to live a life of repentance. What is repentance? Confession of sin and turning away from that sin. Problem is most are good at confessing of sin but many will never let go of that sin. So they continually confess of the same sin over and over with no real repentance ever existing.
(Psalm 42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?) We find David thirsty for God. You may be thirsting for God today. I pray you take a drink of the Living Water that is only found in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and His Shed Blood upon the Cross at Calvary. May God bless you ALL today!

Journey Through the Bible Day 139 2 Samuel 19-21
(2 Samuel 19:2 And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.)
We open today’s Journey to David grieving over the death of his son Absalom. Even though Absalom had become an enemy of his father David this did not change the fact that he was still David’s son. After his most horrible death at the hands of Joab David went into a season of grief. (2 Samuel 19:4 But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!) This display of grief did not set well with Joab the commander of his army. So, he approaches David in rare form and tells David he must proclaim victory to the people of Israel or they will all leave him. (2 Samuel 19:7 Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.) David is grieving for his son that Joab just killed in war in protection David’s throne to have it restored to David. Now David must proclaim victory over his son. Even though children will go astray in this life that does not change the fact that they are still our children. This is why we must obey scripture to raise up our children in the ways of the Lord. Raise our Children in the truth of His Word. Set them the example to live by. This awful chain of events come to pass because of the consequences that David is receiving from past choices. Let us always remember that every choice has consequences. David restores peace in Israel as king once again. (2 Samuel 19:14 And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.) Israel comes as one man and one heart and asks David and his servants back to the throne. But this peace does not last long. (2 Samuel 20:2 So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.) Due to Sheba’s actions and call only Judah stayed with David and all the other tribes go after Sheba. But the reign of Sheba was cut short as he was beheaded, and Joab returns to the king being David once again. Then a famine arose in the land and David prayed to the Lord about this matter. (2 Samuel 21:1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.) We see once again that because of choices made in the past that consequences must be paid today. This famine is because of the choices that Saul made in the land. We see Israel go to war again with the Philistines and we are introduced to Goliath’s brothers at there death. (2 Samuel 21:22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.) Let us understand today that God takes sin seriously. I’m thankful today that Jesus the Christ went to the Cross at Calvary and Shed His Precious Blood for the forgiveness of our sins. But let us not forget that the choices we make in this life will have consequences that we must live with. So, choose wisely today, Choose God. May God bless you ALL today!
