No one is perfect.
Are we punished for our faults and imperfections?
If you've been to Sunday School or any religious domination that talks on judgement day- you may know what I'm talking about.
In these mainstream theologies, if you are "bad" or "sin" you are punished with damnation. Firey hell. Eternal suffering!
I feel this is an erroneous way of looking at how God weighs our actions here on earth.
Let's think about what we know of God. He is perfect in his ways, holy judge, loving father, merciful, knows we stumble, gave us guidelines to help us achieve what is acceptable, blessses us or sends us trials whilst on earth, does speak of a panel of judges from among the earthly generations, does speak of a new heaven and new earth, does speak of a lake of fire... so how does this all fit together?
First off, I know we will be judged for our trespasses of Gods Law. But how that judgement manifests is where the theory diverges from mainstream thoughts.
I have found to believe we are judged daily.
One big reason I feel this is the case, is God is not within our limitations, He sees and functions in an infinite loop, no beginning no end, all timelines coinciding all done or yet to be fulfilled.
So, as we trespass, we are already being judged for those trespasses. The judgement IS occurring, in my opinion. Some religions call it karma, and there is a similarity to this theory. Your action causes a response (or reaction), being weigh and judged in real time, as God works in ALL time. We are connected to all things simultaneously.
We have a say in our punishment, we make our choices- and we are held accountable.
Oh yeah, that lake of fire I mentioned- that's only been prescribed to the fallen ones. Lake of fire, eternal abyss- there is no original writing I have read that sentences man to this fate.
However, we are all waiting on a formal judgement after death, either we are weighed and found worthy of entry into the new world- or we are not. There is a little more to it, but for the sake of time and focus, I'll leave it at that.
But where do the ones go that are not returning to the new earth? The ones found unworthy?
This is largely unclear in many original texts, but one theory is the ones found worthy will be resurrected in the new earth and share eternal life with God, the ones found unworthy return to dust of the earth no longer endowed with the spark of life. Gone, forever.
All in all, our punishment for "sins" happen here and now, our guilt/anguish/illness/loss/etc, is our "hell" on earth- especially since we are separated from our Heavenly Father, which is a form of punishment all in itself, in my opinion.
Our ministry does not promote the fear of damnation, because in our opinion - being so far from God in our daily lives IS punishment and that is why we strive for communion. We strive to align our lives to bring Gods law to life - so we may commune with Him and enjoy the blessings he has in store for us. We are cautious to not be careless with our eternal soul, to remember this life is but a moment until we await final judgement and a new earth. So we can become a holy people, the Children of Light, Sons of God... the other option being eternal sleep then dissolution from our creator- nothingness.
Personally, I choose joy and love! I am working towards that judgement day- so I can worship my Heavenly Father and rejoice in the Earthly Mother and sing with the Holy angels!
I hope that this little snippet inspires you to look into how you view the "ever after"- are you living in fear? Are you unsure of what to think? These aspect do take a toll on your spiritual health and they are important to at least frame out - so you have a strong foundation in your faith.
I wish you well on your journey, peace be with you! ππππ½
