l Lutheran Church in Pine Island and volunteers from area churches first sponsored a family mission trip to Baja, Mexico in 2008. The group has continued to send mission teams to Vicente Guerrero, Baja, Mexico to build homes and volunteer at a local orphanage every third year since. Because of this ministry and the acts of love and support by so many from this community, the "Baja Builders" as they affectionately call themselves have funded and constructed homes for 15 families, a 3 room school, and a small medical clinic since their first trip. In addition, they have provided food and staples for countless families, purchased uniforms so children were able to attend school, given financial support to an orphanage and women's shelter, and funded a school basketball/soccer court. The needs are great in this area of Baja, Mexico. The October 2020 mission trip was postponed due to the pandemic, but the mission team is rebooting and scheduled to make the trip March 19-26, 2022. The team has lofty goals of building 3 houses in one week and additional help would be welcome! Don't know how to build? No problem -- there is plenty for everyone to do and everyone's skills and abilities are put to good use. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from this auction will be used to purchase building materials and other supplies to build 3 homes and provide other critical needs to the people in Baja. Mission team members personally pay all of their own travel expenses. Most of the people who live in this area of the Baja are farm workers, and many families live in makeshift houses made from tarps, cardboard or tin. Things like food, clothing, housing and medical care can never be taken for granted, as most families live day by day on what they are able to earn working in the fields. It takes many hands to do God’s work. You may not be traveling to Baja, but you can make a difference! Your support and contributions to this auction will deliver countless blessings to many in Mexico.

Friends - Our team will depart for Baja, Mexico on March 19 to build houses and change the lives of three families. We also plan to take mission donations to benefit ALL of the residents of Las Aves, Baja, Mexico and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The Baja Mission Committee is collecting baby, toddler,

Members of these churches continue to support this ministry and so do the communities where they are located. Baja builders arrive in Vicente Guerrero, Baja, MX on a Sunday evening. Monday morning teams of Baja Builders begin to build a house working in groups of 10-12 people (ages 12 to 81). YWAM hires locals to pour a cement slab beforehand and has already purchased the building materials which are on site. By Thursday noon the homes are completed and a small dedication ceremony is held with each family outside their new home. Families aren’t allowed inside the houses the last day and a half, so they haven’t seen the shelving, beds, furniture, and special touches the mission team has added. When a team member hands the family a key to their new home, there are often a few tears.

In addition to building 3 homes for families in the Baja in March, the mission team will spread all additional funds raised as far and wide as they will reach to other Baja folks by giving out lots of food, buying uniforms for kids so they can go to school, helping a women’s shelter and orphanage, and other critical needs that arise while we are there. Mission team members are handing out “dispensas”, enough food and staples to feed a family for a week at an outreach camp in these photos. Team members are rewarded by seeing joy, relief, and gratitude in their eyes. Day to day living for them is hard, and many are just one day away from financial disaster if a family member gets sick, can’t work, or needs medical attention.

These are tears of joy! Families must have a deed to the building site before they can be added to a long waiting list to possibly have a mission team build them a house one day. That can be years, and may never happen. It takes most families an entire generation to pay off the loan on their land because of the low wages they earn working in the fields. Your support will help to make this happen three families in March, 2022. (Before & after photos)
