Happy Friday!
Our scripture from Genesis tells the story of Abram's call to go to a new land prepared for him and his family. To go into the unknown, trusting in God and his promises.
It is a good message for all of us as we travel into unknown territory. Our fears creep up on the "what if's" that could happen. We fight with having control over our lives, and moving forward into unknown territory with complete trust in our Father God, sometimes is just hard. But when we give over our control completely, and let God have control of the steering wheel, we are able to go to places he has planned for us that are beyond our own expectations.
Even in our church families, we are going into new territory, we are traveling new paths in our faith journey, we realize our faults and are correcting our actions, we are traveling into new discussions and new directions. The old way we grew up within our churches and our faith is on a new journey. Just as each of us get to a point in our lives, where we must say goodbye to what is comfortable, and step out in faith.

Happy Friday!
A man who knows the religious laws tried to trick Jesus and asked him what the greatest commandment is.
Jesus answered, That's easy!
To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul. Oh and the second is to love your neighbor the same way. All the other laws hang off these two commandments.
That love is different from all other love. It is sacrificial love, like the love Jesus has for us. We cannot love like this on our own because we are all flawed. But, we can with Jesus working through us, and asking him to help us, guide us, direct us, encouraging us to act on that love.
Everything hangs on that!
Have a great day and love on people.

Happy Friday!
This weekend we give thanks to those who gave their lives to keep us safe, to those who serve. To all our men and women in the armed services, and all our first responders. Also all our mentors before us who served to save our spiritual lives.
To our Parents and Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, neighbors and friends within our communities, and even people we don't know but God used them to get to us. We see it in the scriptures when Paul gave thanks to his Aunt Lois in his letter to Timothy. There are many warriors who gave their lives for us, including Spiritual Warriors. And we give all our thanks and praise to God for all of them. Have a safe weekend, and give God your thanks and praise for all our warriors who serve.

Today we recognize and celebrate when Jesus ascended up to heaven. I read a message recently of the disciples and followers gathered and Jesus gave his last messages to them and then they watched him rise like on a cloud up to heaven and out of sight. The message talked about all the events that they had witnessed over three years, his death and resurrection, and now this. You can just imagine the emotions running through them as they look up watching him go up into the heavens.
Now imagine on the other end! As God and all his angels looked down as they watched Jesus rise up into the heavens and the Father welcoming his Son back to heaven. He had a job to do and he met every requirement, every prophecy, handed the task over to his disciples to form the church, his death and resurrection, and he conquered the evil one. Can you just imagine the welcome home Jesus got as the heavens looked down and watched him rise up and take his seat next to his Father. Oh yes, there is a heaven, and what a celebration that day must have been. Praise be to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! Amen and Amen.

Happy Friday!
The scripture this week is from John 17: 1-11. Jesus is praying for his disciples as his time has come. This prayer is for all his disciples which includes you and me, and those who follow Jesus for all time, and do his work. He prays for us and our work, and that it all brings honor to God. There are so many thoughts and emotions knowing that Jesus is praying for us.
It is so hard to be a Christian, to study, to follow his teachings, to show his love through our actions, just all of it is impossible for me to do. But Paul wrote to us to remember that all things are possible through Jesus Christ. It is his power and not ours, and remember, he is praying for each of us.

Happy Friday!
The scripture verses for the week are from John 10: 1-10. Every day we have numerous voices that run through us from family members, our boss, fellow students, friends, people we bump into throughout the day. We have the press, the politicians, social media, and now a computer with AI. Our lives are crazy, and maybe a little out of control, at times stressful, at times we worry too much, and don't forget how we over think it all!
With all of this going on, how are we to know the voice of Jesus? Lately he seems quiet and we wonder if he is even there.
In these verses, we are compared to sheep which is appropriate because like sheep, we are not smart. The security we seek as in the sheep pen, is only through Jesus. Anything that sneaks into our safe zone comes to do harm. He knows us and calls us by name, and by being the gate keeper he leads us in and out into the world. Some days it is easy, and other times it is hard. If we can't hear it, what is blocking our hearing? This daily interaction is key to hearing his voice, and it grows over a lifetime of relationship so that his voice becomes clearer, louder, and cuts through everything else, drowning out all those other voices. We come into his fold for security and rest, and he leads us out into the world and a very full life.

Happy Friday!
The scriptures this week are about the road to Emmaus. So much has happened where the scriptures have been misunderstood and misused. Jesus was crucified and that morning resurrected as some of the women found the tomb empty and Mary Magdalene told us she saw him. And on the same day two of Jesus' followers were walking home to Emmaus which is 7 miles away from Jerusalem. Jesus came along and joined them as they were talking about all that has happened. He explained ALL the scriptures so that it became clear to them. So much that their hearts burned. It wasn't until his prayer asking God's blessings and breaking of the bread that they recognized Jesus. They returned to tell the eleven disciples and other followers, and learned he had appeared to Peter also.

Even today, we misuse and not fully understand the meaning of the scriptures. Our words and actions are actually not even close. As we grow in our faith journey and really study and talk with Jesus, our understanding of the scriptures are opened up to us. The key is being on the road to finding Jesus and your relationship with him in your life.

Happy Friday!
A timely message from our Bishop after the celebration of Resurrection Sunday, the trials of this world around us, the trials of our personal strife and of our souls, and a reminder to pause.

Holy God, invite us into a trust that is deeper than our circumstances. When life feels unsteady, draw our hearts back to Your goodness.

When our emotions swirl or our bodies carry the weight of stress, breathe Your calm into our minds and steady our spirits.

Remind us that Your love and mercy never leave us—not in confusion, not in difficulty, not in the moments we feel least grounded.

You are our provider, our sustainer, the One who meets every need.

As we turn to You now, open us to Your peace and anchor us again in Your faithful care. Amen. 🙏🏽
