With the recent and tragic events in Minneapolis, and now in many cities across the nation, Pastor Lissa and I wanted to speak with you on these. In the middle of the physical distancing that we are in, I find comfort in knowing the Comforter is with you.
These events are having a great impact on us as well as our nation.
The needless death of George Floyd, while in police custody, is wrong and should be condemned by all. As we seen these tragedies happen, it has brought us to tears and even anger that this would still happen in our country.
But it must be said, lawlessness does not cure injustice.
We must be aware and understand that this whole scenario is not isolated and it should not fade with the news.
As believers we must understand that ultimately, the enemy is the divider and we should not forget of his tactics. We as the church in this world today must take our place. We are not the world and we are not the government. We are the church.
First, as the victorious church of Jesus Christ, we must take our place and pray.
Second, while standing in the place of prayer, that place of authority, we must take our place to love our neighbor. An act of faith of loving people that are in your neighborhood, in your work place and even the people that God has put in front of you. We must always show love to those that God has given us excess to.
Third, take your place as a person that will take the time to listen and learn. We all must listen to, look out for, and learn from and about one another so that events like these no longer happen.
Fourth, take your place to minister health to those that are hurting. Everyday there will be someone right in front of you that you can begin to help and speak healing to. Be approachable with a smile, with a friendly face, with a kind word, and a helping hand.
We, as Living Waters Christian Church and Word of Life Christian Church will take our place, bringing life in our communities. To be a voice for Jesus, as we bring prayer, love, as we invest in people and bring healing and help, bringing racial healing and unity.
Our churches are a beautiful, multi-cultural, multi-generational church family that will be a light during these dark days.
Love to each of you,
Pastors Dan and Lissa
