Today Payne Theological Seminary honor’s the life and legacy of Bishop Reginald Thomas Jackson, the 132nd elected and consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and a cherished member of our Board of Trustees. Bishop Jackson entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
A visionary leader whose ministry spanned more than five decades, Bishop Jackson served the global AME Church with distinction—as pastor, presiding prelate, educator, advocate, and transformative change agent. His wisdom and leadership strengthened communities across the United States, Africa, and the wider world, and his commitment to justice and educational excellence deeply shaped Payne Seminary’s mission.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to his children, Regina and Seth, and to the entire Second Episcopal District. Payne Seminary honors his extraordinary legacy of preaching, teaching, advocacy, and faithful service.
“Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:23)
