A Message from Fr. Gerard:
Dear Friends,
St Paul in his Letter to the Philippians tells us ‘ our citizenship is in heaven and from it we await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ’ These words of hope are sorely needed as we draw to the end of a very challenging year for everyone. Even now, there seems to be no end in sight to the pandemic. Our hearts go out to those who have suffered the loss of their loved ones, to those isolated from their loved ones, to those who have lost their jobs and businesses, and to all those suffering anguish due to the uncertainties of this difficult time.
By the grace of God and your prayers for us, we, at the abbey are safe and healthy. Some of our brothers have lost parents to the coronavirus disease but the community has weathered this well so far. The enforced isolation has been both a challenge and a blessing - it has been a time of true silence and solitude and prayer. We have been praying for all of you and for our suffering world.
The celebration of the birth of Our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ is a reminder that we are people of hope. Amidst the darkness, the light of Christ continues to shine. May the Lord bless you and your loved ones with much peace and joy.
A Blessed Christmas to you and your loved ones. May the prayers of Our Blessed Mother accompany you, protect you, and give you much hope and peace in the New Year.
Assuring you of our continued prayers,
Father Gerard and the priests and brothers of Genesee
