The Practice of Study God’s Word
Scripture to memorize: 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 NIV, “Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.”

Studying God’s Word is like preparing a feast. The key word there is “preparing.” Prepare means to make something ready for use. Cooking, slicing, dicing, frying, burning, mixing, crock potting, and boiling are just a few ways to prepare food.
1 Corinthians 3:2 says, “I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. Solid food is food that has to be prepared! An infant that has no teeth can’t eat solid food. They need puree food. Bet you didn’t think I knew that word! Puree, “a smooth, creamy substance made of liquidized or crushed fruit or vegetables.” Liquidized? I just threw up in my mouth! Crushed fruit or vegetables? That’s just wrong!
Anyway, back to what we were doing. Solid food is the
opposite of milk or puree. It’s spiritual food that must be
prepared and digested.

Today: How would you describe the spiritual food you eat; solid or milk? If milk, how long have you been drinking spiritual milk? Do you cook? I don’t.
