Apostle Les Bowling, Founder and Overseer, Eagle Rock Ministries. A Pastoral word in a time of division
Recent rhetoric and portrayals involving former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have reminded us that our nation still carries unresolved wounds connected to race, dignity, and belonging.
These type of communications should never come out of the White House or any other house.
No center or office of Authority should ever propagate this type of sentiment or vitriol towards other human beings.
These moments are painful, not only because of who is targeted, but because they reveal how easily society can slip back into patterns that history has already shown to be harmful.
We reject every form of racism and dehumanization, Such attitudes contradict the heart of God and the gospel we preach.
Healing comes through repentance, humility, and transformed hearts. If we only condemn outward behavior without inviting inward renewal, we will trade one form of division for another.
We can hold convictions without cruelty.
We can speak truth without stripping dignity
The Church must lead in modeling a different way a Kingdom way, where honor is not reserved for those who think like us, but extended because they are made by God.
My prayer is that this moment becomes more than a cultural controversy. May it become an invitation for our nations leaders and for each of us to examine our hearts.
May pride give way to humility.
May harshness yield to compassion.
May our public discourse begin to reflect the dignity Heaven has already declared over every human life.
And may the Church be found carrying the oil of healing, the ministry of reconciliation, and the steady light of truth spoken.
2 Corinthians 5:18
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
