📖 WHO WAS MARGARET LACKEY?
Margaret Lackey grew up in Mississippi. She attended Hillman College in Clinton, where she studied to be a teacher, and later taught for many years.

Margaret had a love for missions. She taught young children in her church to love missions and enjoyed writing poems and mission study books.

In 1912, Margaret Lackey was hired as the first paid leader of Mississippi Woman’s Missionary Union.
Her love for missions left a lasting legacy.
In 1930, she retired as corresponding secretary of Mississippi WMU. Five years later, the state missions offering was named in her honor.

Today, Mississippi Baptists continue that legacy through the Margaret Lackey State Missions Offering.
One woman. One passion for missions. A legacy that continues today.

🌎 SEPTEMBER IS MARGARET LACKEY MONTH
This month, we’re focusing on the Margaret Lackey State Missions Offering and what God is doing through Mississippi Baptists to reach people across our state.

The Margaret Lackey Offering is a primary source of funding for missions throughout Mississippi, including church multiplication, community ministry, disaster relief, collegiate outreach, cross-cultural evangelism, and more.

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing the story behind Margaret Lackey, highlighting the ministries supported through this offering, and showing how we can all be involved in reaching Mississippi with the Gospel.

Mississippi is our mission field.
