Hello, World!
Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday. It is in the past and the past will never change. Only I can change by choosing to do so.
Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will always be there, waiting for me to make the most of it. But I cannot make the most of tomorrow without first making the most of today.
Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will see a person worthy of my respect and admiration. This capable person looking back at me is someone I enjoy spending time with and someone I would like to get to know better.
Beginning today I will cherish each moment of my life. I value this gift bestowed upon me in this world and I will unselfishly share this gift with others. I will use this gift to enhance the lives of others.
Beginning today I will take life one day at a time, one step at a time. Discouragement will not be allowed to taint my positive self-image, my desire to succeed or my capacity to love.
Beginning today I will open my mind and my heart. I will welcome new experiences. I will meet new people. I will not expect perfection from myself nor anyone else: perfection does not exist in an imperfect world. But I will applaud the attempt to overcome human foibles.
Beginning today I will learn something new; I will try something different; I will savor all the various flavors life has to offer. I will change what I can and the rest I will let go. I will strive to become the best me I can possibly be.

GOSPEL REFLECTION: Matt. 6: 22—34
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil. Matthew 6:34
If we could only heed these words! Do not worry about... The three dots after that phrase should be filled in by you. What is it that you worry about? The entire passage from today’s Gospel offers a list of things we worry about that we shouldn’t. It especially points to concerns about our material well-being. Jesus is very direct in saying that we should not worry about money and all that money provides. He cares more for us than the birds of the sky or flowers of the field, yet He takes perfect care of them. Will He not also take care of us? He certainly will.
In this Gospel, Jesus directly states that you cannot serve both God and money. In other words, you cannot make both of them the object of your desire and longing. Making money a central focus in life deters us from trust in the providence of God. We certainly should not go about life carefree in regard to providing for ourselves and our loved ones. We have a duty to work and earn a living and provide for ourselves and our family. But it’s one thing to be diligent and responsible in accord with the will of God. It’s another thing to worry excessively or to make money the central focus of our lives.
The simple answer to being worry free in regard to money is trust. Trust God enough to take care of you. Pray, listen to Him, let Him show you His will in regard to the way you will earn a living, and then confidently do what you hear Him calling you to do. At times, money may be tight. These moments can either be a cause for worry and anxiety, or a cause for greater trust and surrender to God.
God certainly does not promise to make you rich in material things. This may or may not happen and, in fact, it matters little to God. The key is that, rich or poor, you trust God and entrust your finances to Him. If you have much, make sure that it is daily given over to God and that you daily ask Him to direct you in the use of your wealth. If you have little, do not give in to fear but trust that the Lord knows your needs and will show you how to meet those needs.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Ніхто не може двом панам служити: бо або одного зненавидить, а другого буде любити, або триматиметься одного, а того знехтує. Не можете Богові служити – і мамоні. Ось чому кажу вам: Не турбуйтеся вашим життям, що вам їсти та що пити; ні тілом вашим, у що одягнутись. Хіба життя не більш – їжі, тіло – не більш одежі. Гляньте на птиць небесних: не сіють і не жнуть, ані не збирають у засіки, а Отець ваш небесний їх годує! Хіба ви від них не вартісніші? Хто з вас, журячись, спроможен добавити до свого віку хоч один лікоть? І про одежу чого ж вам клопотатись? Гляньте на польові лілеї, як ростуть вони: не працюють і не прядуть. Та я кажу вам, що й Соломон у всій своїй славі не вдягався так, як одна з них. І коли зілля польове, яке сьогодні є, а завтра вкидають його до печі, Бог так одягає, то чи не багато більше вас, маловірні? Отож не турбуйтеся, промовлявши: Що будемо їсти, що пити й у що зодягнемося? Про все те побиваються погани. Отець же ваш небесний знає, що вам усе це потрібне. Шукайте перше Царство Боже та його справедливість, а все те вам докладеться. Не журіться, отже, завтрішнім днем; завтрішній день турбуватиметься сам про себе. Доволі дневі його лиха.”
