From the Morning Prayer - Mary Magdalen

Short Reading: Romans 12:1-2

Think of God’s mercy, my brothers, and worship him, I beg you, in a way that is worthy of thinking beings, by offering your living bodies as a holy sacrifice, truly pleasing to God. Do not model yourselves on the behaviour of the world around you, but let your behaviour change, modelled by your new mind. This is the only way to discover the will of God and know what is good, what it is that God wants, what is the perfect thing to do.

Prayers and intercessions

With all the holy women let us praise our Saviour and call on him in prayer.
– Come, Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus, you said of the woman who was a sinner, ‘Her many sins are forgiven, because she has loved much’:
grant us your forgiveness for our many sins.
– Come, Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus, women ministered to your needs on your saving journeys:
open our eyes to see you in those who need our help.
– Come, Lord Jesus.

Lord and master, Mary listened to your teaching and Martha did the serving:
may our faith grow ever deeper and our love go out to others.
– Come, Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus, you called those who do God’s will your brother and sister and mother:
teach us to live as members of your family.
– Come, Lord Jesus.

Let us pray

Almighty, ever-living God, your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ made Mary Magdalen the first herald of Easter joy.
Grant that, following her example and her prayers, we may, in this life, proclaim the living Christ, and come to see him reigning in your glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen

From the Morning Prayer

Short Reading: Romans 8:18-21

What we suffer in this life can never be compared to the glory, as yet unrevealed, which is waiting for us. The whole creation is eagerly waiting for God to reveal his sons. It was not for any fault on the part of creation that it was made unable to attain its purpose, it was made so by God; but creation still retains the hope of being freed, like us, from its slavery to decadence, to enjoy the same freedom and glory as the children of God.

Prayers and intercessions

It is the Father’s will that men should see him in the face of his beloved Son. Let us honour him as we say:
– Hallowed be your name.

Christ greeted us with good news:
may the world hear it through us, and find hope.
– Hallowed be your name.

We praise and thank you, Lord of heaven and earth;
you are the hope and joy of men in every age.
– Hallowed be your name.

May Christ’s coming transform the Church;
and renew its youth and vigour in the service of men.
– Hallowed be your name.

We pray for Christians who suffer for their belief: sustain them in their hope.
– Hallowed be your name.

Let us pray

Grant us, Lord, a true knowledge of salvation, so that, freed from fear and from the power of our foes, we may serve you faithfully all the days of our life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen

From the Morning Prayer

Short Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32

Guard against foul talk; let your words be for the improvement of others, as occasion offers, and do good to your listeners, otherwise you will only be grieving the Holy Spirit of God who has marked you with his seal for you to be set free when the day comes. Never have grudges against others, or lose your temper, or raise your voice to anybody, or call each other names, or allow any sort of spitefulness. Be friends with one another, and kind, forgiving each other as readily as God forgave you in Christ.

Prayers and intercessions

Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you. Through your cross and resurrection you offer freedom and hope to those ready to receive them.
– Lord, show us your loving-kindness.

We are children of the day:
help us to live in the light of your presence.
– Lord, show us your loving-kindness.

Guide our thoughts, our words, our actions:
so that what we do today may be pleasing to you.
– Lord, show us your loving-kindness.

Help us to avoid wrongdoing:
show us your mercy and love.
– Lord, show us your loving-kindness.

Through your passion and death you have won life for us:
give us the strength of your Holy Spirit.
– Lord, show us your loving-kindness.

Let us pray

Lord God, you hold out the light of your Word to those who do not know you. Strengthen in our hearts the faith you have given us, so that no trials may quench the fire your Spirit has kindled within us. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen
