Bush Telegraph Mission, Africa Who We Are

We are a Bible-based mission evangelizing and partnering with national pastors, churches, and community leaders, often in war zones.

Director Charlotte Sinclair Barkley has worked in missions over 40 years. She has four grown children and two grandchildren. Three sons served their country in uniform, and two continue. When home on furlough, Charlotte resides with her daughter Michelle, a teacher, in Glendale, Arizona. Charlotte received her Bachelor of Biblical Studies and Missions from Southwestern College (Arizona Christian U

niversity) in 2007 at the age of 65. She won the Delta Epsilon Chi award from that year and was listed in Who’s Who in American Universities & Colleges. She has authored articles for the Christian Standard, conducted workshops at the National Missionary Convention, and been a frequent speaker for missionary conventions, Sunday school classes, and women’s groups. Beginning in 1965, Charlotte and her late husband, “Sandy” Sinclair, served with Zambia Christian Mission in Central Africa working with the Ella Tonga tribe people along the Zambezi River. A low-scale civil war forced the family to relocate to South Africa, where they served with Zululand Christian Mission. After 17 years in the field, they returned to the USA to educate their five children. Following the accidental death of an adult son in 1993, God reignited her passion and called her back to Africa. She returned in 1995 as a single missionary. Her heart turned to the plight of the Persecuted Church, focusing on Sudan and surrounding countries. What We Do:

-We build indigenous churches, schools, clinics, and homes for the underprivileged. We repair and drill wells.
-We minister to widows, orphans, cripples, refugees, street kids, child soldiers, abused women, the elderly, and HIV/AIDS patients.
-We teach pastors, Bible college students, children, youth, and adults.
-We ship food and relief supplies to refugee camps, remote villages, slums, orphanages, clinics, churches, and Bible Schools.
-Cargo includes Bibles, school books, medicines, wheelchairs, and formula food for the hungry. We have shipped five 20-foot and 40-foot ocean cargo containers to South Sudan. We're gathering funds for the next.

Paramilitary group RSF seizes control of key city in Sudan

Paramilitary group RSF seizes control of key city in Sudan Aid agencies are warning that hundreds of thousands of people are in grave danger in Sudan’s Dafur region amid a brutal civil war, with reports of human rights abuses and civilian executions.

LONDON -- Satellite images and verified videos paint a harrowing picture of door-to-door mass killings in the Darfur region of war-torn Sudan as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary rebels captured a key city in the region.

The Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) at the Yale School of Public Health says they observed numerous clusters with discoloration around them, consistent with the appearance of human bodies across the city as RSF advanced.

The apparent masses were seen in a hospital, all over residential neighborhoods, on the outskirts of the city and by military bases of the opposing Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

Inside Sudan's El Fasher, a city under siege amid a civil war
The alleged killings took place "in under 72 hours since RSF took control of the city," Nathaniel Raymond, an American human rights and war crimes investigator at HRL who has been documenting the massacres in Sudan with satellite imagery, told ABC News.

With his team at the research lab, Raymond said he observed "an explosion of objects that measure between 1.3 to 2 meters proliferate all over the ground," which HRL Yale concluded is human bodies due to the length, shape and videos from the ground showing alleged systematic civilian killings.

The Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) at the Yale School of Public Health observed numerous clusters with discoloration around them, consistent with the appearance of human bodies in the Darfur region of Sudan.

"In Daraja Oula -- a neighborhood where civilians have been hiding -- we're seeing a tactical posture on the vehicles that is highly consistent with house-to-house killing," Raymond told ABC News. "This is also consistent with video and testimony from those who reached Tawila. Particularly women, who said that the men are being separated by RSF and then they hear gunshots."

The research lab also observed discoloration around these objects, which they concluded is blood, further confirmed by the presence of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) military vehicles always spotted in close proximity, Raymond said. An update on the report shows that the piles have grown and none of the original objects have moved, Raymond told ABC News.

Researchers said they also corroborated reports of alleged executions at Saudi Hospital, where at least four clusters of bodies appeared. "We see a line of people standing on day one at an RSF detention facility that was formerly a children's hospital. On day two, we see a pile now in the corner consistent with the color and length of those individuals who are standing there in a line on the previous day," Raymond said.

On the outskirts of El Fasher, HRL Yale also said they observed multiple clusters appearing between Oct. 26 and Oct. 27, consistent with reports of civilians being killed as they tried to flee. West of the city, along its encircling berm, at least six clusters were observed as well as adjacent technical vehicles, which were not seen in images from Oct. 28, suggesting RSF had moved, leaving the large clusters of bodies behind, according to the research lab.

RSF has also taken control of the opposing Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) military bases in the city, the HRL analysis appears to show.

Satellite images from Oct. 26 show at least 15 new munition scars and thermal burns on the ground of the 6th Division HQ of the opposing Sudanese Armed Forces in a comparison with images from Oct. 15.

"We've seen that all of the Sudan Armed Forces vehicles left en masse at about the same time. Which is consistent with reports that they escaped in the night in what now appears to be a negotiated deal with the Rapid Support Forces, leaving the civilians in Al-Fasher to die," Raymond said.

During the offensive, El Fasher has been cut off from the outside world. Besieged for 18 months -- the UN called it the "epicentre of suffering" -- and now with RSF forces inside the city, there is no observable mass movement of people fleeing, likely prevented from escaping the alleged killings in what experts fear is just the beginning of devastating violence.

US expresses ‘grave’ concern as fighting in Sudan’s El Fasher escalates amid civil war.

In January, the U.S. State Department announced it had concluded members of the RSF had committed genocide in Sudan, specifically pointing to human rights violations in Darfur. Raymond says what we are seeing “is the final battle of the Darfur genocide that began 20 years ago.”

Compared to previous RSF offensives -- such as one in April on the largest displacement camp in Darfur, ZamZam -- humanitarian observers are suggesting the new satellite imagery shows a more systematic way of killing that is making them warn of a possible genocide unfolding.

The Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) at the Yale School of Public Health observed numerous clusters with discoloration around them, consistent with the appearance of human bodies in the Darfur region of Sudan.

Humanitarian Research Lab at the Yale School of Public Health
“Here, in the case of El Fasher, what's different? They're not burning the city to the ground. They have the city encircled. They are controlling the entrance and exit. And they are moving pretty systematically, unlike ZamZam. Pretty systematically, block by block. And as they move, we see objects consistent with bodies, often with discoloration, appear,” Raymond told ABC News.

From testimony on the ground, those who have fled said that men have been separated from women and children, who are now likely in hiding, but are next in the firing line, Raymond said.

“It's now going to accelerate,” he said. “We haven't even hit top velocity. The people that they will kill now are those who are hiding. And they're mostly women and children… Now it'll be those who were too weak to run or those men who were hiding and trying to protect them from the RSF.”

Dear FB Family.

PLEASE READ THIS UPDATE on the WAR in (NORTH) SUDAN. BTM does not "officially" work in (North) Sudan, however, what happens there directly affects us and people we minister to.

WE HAVE A NUMBER of projects/ministries in South Sudan and know many people.

VOICE OF THE MARTYRS gives an excellent "summary" of the 2-yr war to help catch you up on what happened in (North) Sudan. May this help you to know how to pray for the SUDANS (North and South)/

In His Service,

"ONE DAY GOD WILL FIND A WAY OUT FOR ME"

BACKGROUND

ON APRIL 15, 2023, two Sudanese generals who had previously been accused of war crimes began fighting for control of Sudan.

Islamists within the two armies, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), often target Christians while fighting one another.

The Nuba Mountains, a contested area in the South Kordofan region of south-central Sudan, has a majority Christian population.

In the 1990s, the Christians there began facing attacks from the same generals now fighting each other for control of the country.

Many who lived in the Nuba Mountains during the government attacks moved to Khartoum seeking work and education. But when the fighting began in 2023, they were forced to return to the Nuba Mountains.

An estimated 1 million mostly Christian Sudanese are thought to have fled to the Nuba Mountains to escape the warring factions in the capital.

Christians around the world are providing help to those who have fled to the Nuba Mountains, supplying daily necessities and encouragement.

“There is a Richard Wurmbrand quote: ‘When they beat my feet, my mouth cried out,’” a front-line worker said. “[The situation in Sudan is] similar to that. We are the [global] church. When they are in pain, we are in pain. I think it’s important to remember that.”

Nyandenga is a Sudanese woman who has received aid from the global body of Christ. Since becoming separated from her husband, she has been living in a camp for internally displaced people (IDP) in the Nuba Mountains.

“[The attackers] were ra**ng girls and taking boys to go and train them [as fighters],” she said. “That is why I decided, ‘No, this situation will not allow me to stay here,’ and then I left.” Nyandenga is helping care for 12 children, including her own.

Pastors and other ministry workers in the area have requested Bibles for those living in the camps. Often, the Bibles are needed to replace those that Christians lost while fleeing the violence.

When a woman named Halima received a bag of basic supplies and an audio Bible from a caring local Christian, Halima said it would help drive her fears away. “[The Bible] will help me to leave these bad thoughts and put the Word of God in my heart,” she said.

Our persecuted Christian family members in Sudan continue to trust in God, even when their circumstances seem bleak.

One displaced Christian, who has been separated from his wife and children and is unable to find work, said, “I am in complete confidence that one day God will find a way out for me. But I don’t know when and how. I believe that God will do this and has not forsaken us.”

You can pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ suffering in Sudan with this prayer:

"Dear gracious, heavenly Father,

"We pray for the people of Sudan. We ask that you comfort those who have lost loved ones. We ask that you provide for all who have lost homes, possessions and jobs and have fled for their lives. God of hope, we ask you to fill them with your joy and peace, that they may abound in hope during these difficult days. In Jesus’ name."

Amen.

Dear Facebook Family,

IT BREAKS MY HEART that 10.7 million people have fled the conflict in (NORTH) SUDAN.

THIS WAR began in April 2023 between two corrupt, power-hungry Generals who: 1) do not care about the innocent citizens getting killed or suffering; 2) nor do they want to sit down at the table to negotiate PEACE.

INDIRECTLY THIS WAR affects BTM's ministry in SOUTH SUDAN as thousands of refugees head south on foot - as well as neighboring countries.

MOST SUDANESE we work with have family and relatives in (NORTH) SUDAN - they have all "lost" someone.

THEREFORE besides refugees flooding SOUTH SUDAN from the NORTH, they are also directly affected by losing family/friends in this senseless conflict.

AS A MOM-N-POP MISSION, there is no way we can begin to meet the needs of all these millions of refugees. Even WFP (World Food Program) officials say they are overwhelmed by needs.

HOWEVER, one thing we can ALL do is PRAY.

Thank you and God Bless.

Sudan (MNN) -- Displacement hits a record high as Sudan’s war passes the nine-month mark with no end in sight.

(NORTH) SUDAN. THIS WAR between two Islamic Generals wages on now for about 8 months. Thousands of lives have been lost including Christians who did nothing wrong. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

TO DATE there is no winner in sight. This greatly affects our ministry in SOUTH SUDAN who continues to receive thousands of Refugees fleeing (NORTH) SUDAN. They have little or no resources to share with refugees due to poor leadership and corruption.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET these refugees in (NORTH) SUDAN. Add them to your church's PRAYER LIST. Thank you for praying.

In His Love,

Charlotte Sinclair Barkley

As war between two Islamist armies in Sudan wages on, our brothers and sisters in Christ face continual and ruthless persecution.

Dear friends of the Persecuted Church,

BUSH TELEGRAPH MISSION is here for South Sudan - as well as many thousands of refugees trickling into the country since civil war broke out in SUDAN last April.

A NEW CONFLICT IN DARFUR broke out yesterday, November 8th, led by rebel leaders with shocking atrocities. Please read and hold our believers there up in prayer.

Thank you,

Charlotte

The armed group’s takeover could prompt a new wave of rights abuses and atrocities against civilians, experts fear.
