God helped me to make amazing poached eggs.

Sit with that.
Where does it leave you?

I used to belittle these statements…
…too charismatic
…overspiritual
…following butterflies saying it’s Jesus

But my faith changed
My pride was humbled
And the criticism turned to adoration.

I know what it’s like to walk with God in the mundane moments of life.

But I didn’t get there because I used to have a mic in my hand and a Bible on a stage.

I got there from brokenness.
Dependency.
Deep pain that clung me to God that over years turned to deep need.

I never wanted to be too needy with God. I was afraid He wouldn’t use me, that my life would be wasted.

Now I just want to be so close to Him I can feel the Holy Spirit nudge me, take your poached eggs out now. Even though it was minutes early. Even though I didn’t know it would take me a minute to find a bowl to strain the water.

On Sabbaths my husband and I try this rhythm of sitting on the couch with coffee and taking INVENTORY.
We go through all the things that make us beings:
How are you mentally?
I’m tired.
How are you emotionally?
Hmmm… I’m drained.
How are you spiritually?
I’m a bit dry.
How are you physically?
I feel pretty good.
How are you socially?
I could use friends!

And then we decide what we need from that. Today landed on fun, responsible things, and dreaming with the Lord.

Before things progressed I wanted to make breakfast. My breakfast does not look this nice. It does not include bread . But the fact that the God of everything wants such an intimate and loving relationship with me that His Spirit living and dwelling in me would nudge me to take the eggs off early because I adore golden yolky goodness… well… that’s our God.

Where is the Spirit nudging you today so you can experience God’s love?

Have you experience this leading before that led to your needs or wants being fulfilled?

Happy Saturday friends.
May God bless you as you seek Him.

Alone in the car is where we meet
It’s a constant space of processings

Time moves slow
Feelings fast
But You are my constant

I wish I could feel Your presence all the time
Like it’s just You and I
In the car — sharing hearts

// a little poem of big feels
what’s your SPACE✨ where you process with God? do you have a place? a bench? a scene? a time?

We weren’t meant to be available 24/7.
We weren’t meant to be on all the time.
We weren’t meant to be in need of distractions constantly.

We were meant to get BORED.
To be okay with being ALONE
We were meant to PAUSE
to be okay with resting our mind, heart, and soul

So we can be available to God 24/7
So we can be ready to pray all the time.
So we can be in need of divinely communioning with a Holy God.

If you’re struggling with anxiety, try to practice gratitude. Try to name 5 things you are grateful for.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Zechariah 2:11
“Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become MY people.”
🌍
Revelations 7:9
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,”

Isaiah 1:17
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.”

James 1:27
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

“Jesus can make beauty from ashes, but the family of God must first see and acknowledge the ashes.”

May racism in the church die with our generation. May God pull this sin out of our local churches, our elder boards, our staff meetings, our sanctuaries, etc. ROOT AND STEM. May God give the reluctant Church a new heart — a heart that mirrors God’s for racial justice.

Let’s take any guilt and just set it aside. Pick it up. Put it right over there. Okay. Let’s ask ourselves. How are we using our influence?

Social media gives EVERYONE a voice. So what are you saying?

A lot of us use social media for promotion. I’m promoting my freelance, my business, my art, my words, my craft, my hobbies, my blog, my podcast, my baking, my politics, my heartbeats, etc.

Or... myself. Here’s my vacation. Here’s my happiness in a photo. Here’s my baby. Here’s my family. Here’s my ministry. Here’s my dogs. Here’s me, me, me.

That’s great! Remember! The guilt is over there, don’t go grab it. You and I are chatting.

So, where is Jesus in your social? Is He apart of your platform? Is He a topic of your influence? How are you sharing Him? Through your life? Through a meme? Through a GIF?

Sometimes we approach social media as MINE. It’s an entitlement thing. We don’t always broadcast it but a lot of even use it to “relax” to “veg” to just chill on our phones.

I just want to invite you as I challenge myself to let Jesus in. To prayer a simple prayer:
“Jesus, would you shine through this platform?”

Amen? Amen.
Now feel free to do what you will with that guilt. Legalism will tell you to hold to it tight. Love will help you let it go. The choice is yours.

I hope you choose to believe in Jesus’ love for you!
Sincerely,
Kindred

The other day I was really hearing the lyrics to that worship song, “Yes I Will”.
The line that struck me was,
“Yes I will lift you high in the lowest valley.”
We have such a problem in our Christian culture in that we have a problem when people are not smiling and giddy about life. Even that song is relatively upbeat. It sounds positive. It sounds like you’re having a good day skipping to the tune of a feel good song from church. But if we PAUSE and really process those lyrics, we can arrive at some questions to ponder.

1️⃣ Have I ever lifted God up and praise Him, assigning Him credit for the good in my life, when I am utterly broken?

2️⃣ Have I been sustained by the peace, assurance, and causation of joy in a season that knocked me down?

3️⃣ Have I felt God’s nearness more in the broken times or in the happy times?

When Job was in ever direction of agony and his friends came, for 7 days they just sat with him. They didn’t say a word (that is recorded). They sat. They sat in the brokenness with him.

We as Christians carry the good news of a Savior but by no means are we anyone’s Savior. The more I walked with Jesus I take on the identity of a broken human in need of a whole Savior. Jesus’s perfect wholeness ascribes to His holiness. Jesus. Sweet and strong Jesus.

I want to challenge us to be okay with sitting with others in their hurt, in their pain, in their low times. To not awkwardly encourage, to not over speak when we don’t ask for context, but to just be there. To dwell in the low and pray for the Lord’s joy to refill our kindreds.

The joy of the Lord is less like a celebratory high five and more like the quiet assurance of faith in a trying time. The joy of Jesus meets illuminates the darkest despair.

Through our confidence in Christ we can boldly love, patiently wait, and sincerely care for those around us.

If you are more like that second picture, take heart. Jesus is with you. God is for you. And we’re praying for you.

Message us a praying hands if you would like specific prayer.

“In the love of the family of God, we must become color brave, color caring, color honoring, and not color blind. We have to recognize the image of God in one another. We have to love despite, and even because of, our differences.”

If you’re looking for a way to practically help, it starts with you. We encourage you to read “Be the Bridge” by LaTasha Morrison. But don’t read it alone. Grab some friends that also want to pursue God’s heart for racial injustice.

The Church can change, but it starts with us.
We love you Kindreds!
More importantly, the Lord loves you.
