World Peace Starts Here
Discover How to Create Meaningful Change

with Gen Kelsang Chenma

In a world that often feels unstable and divided, we find ourselves asking: why is this happening – and what can I do about it?

In this series, we’ll explore these questions through the lens of Buddha’s teachings, looking at the deeper causes of conflict and the conditions that give rise to peace. Rather than feeling powerless or overwhelmed, we’ll learn practical ways to respond with clarity, compassion and inner strength.

By understanding how our own minds contribute to the collective experience, we can begin to participate in the solution without adding to the friction and conflict we see around us.

These classes will be based on the text How to Transform Your Life by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Each class consists of 2 guided meditations, teaching and discussion.

From Concentration Comes Peace

with Gen Kelsang Chenma

"A crazy, untamed elephant in this world

Cannot inflict such harm

As the sufferings of the deepest hell

Caused by the rampaging elephant of the mind;

But if the elephant of our mind

Is bound tightly on all sides by the rope of mindfulness,

All fears will cease to exist

And all virtues will fall into our hands."

What is the biggest obstacle to a calm and peaceful mind? It is the distractions and delusions in our mind that Buddha calls the wild elephant of our mind. In this course we will learn methods to tame this wild elephant so that we can experience a calm and peaceful mind. Then we can really meditate!

Based on the books, Meaningful to Behold by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life.

Mondays 7 - 8pm
$10 per class
Free for members

August 31: Introduction to Mindfulness and Alertness
