Happy feast day, St. Francis Xavier Parish!

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, our parish’s patron and one of the great missionaries of the Church. Francis Xavier started out as a bright young scholar from Spain, dreaming of academic success. His life took a wild turn when he met Ignatius of Loyola at the University of Paris. With Ignatius’ friendship and encouragement, Francis traded in his ambitions for a different kind of adventure — becoming one of the founding Jesuits and traveling to the edge of the known world to share Christ’s love.He spent years in India, Japan, and beyond, learning new languages and never giving up, even when things got tough. His story is a reminder that faith can push us out of our comfort zones, toward places and people we never expected. On this special day, read Matthew 28:19-20 (“Go and make disciples of all nations…”). Ask: What does it mean for me to share God’s love in my own corner of the world? Is there a way I can reach out, even in small ways, like Francis did?May St. Francis Xavier pray for us and help us live with that same courage and hope.

SAVE THE DATE April 27 for Fr. Eddie's Going Away Party!

If you have not heard yet, this guy in the middle of this photo is leaving St. Francis Xavier in June. Here's a personal note from Fr. Eddie:

Howdy, faithful community of St. Francis Xavier!

When I first arrived at St. Francis Xavier to start my first mission as a Jesuit priest, many of y’all paid such kind compliments to me with your first words. Then, almost immediately, y’all would question almost invariably, “How long are you staying for?”

At that time, I could not answer with certainty, but sadly I announce that my time at St. Francis Xavier will come to an end, with my last day being here June 9, 2025.

However, I am happy to announce there will be a celebration on Sunday, April 27th, at the 9am English and 1pm Spanish masses, with a reception following each. I will use those celebrations and the remaining time here to celebrate the God who has brought me to YOU, the community of St. Francis Xavier. It is YOU - the People of God - who have welcomed me and made me feel such BELONGing. It is YOU who have helped me in BECOMING the priest I am today. It is YOU who has me feeling such hope and BELIEVING in such a great future, as I am BEING SENT from here to my new mission. YOU have been a source of God's grace for me.

I hope to remain as present here as possible to enjoy what I have always enjoyed... being with you all.

If you want to drop me a line, please email me at [email protected].

With much love,

Fr. Eddie
