The call to the priesthood came during a junior high retreat for Dcn. Nathan Blanchard. After receiving communion he felt the Lord say clearly, “Nathan, I want you to be a priest.” But the journey wasn’t always easy — and he almost walked away.

Tune in to hear Dcn. Nathan’s story of perseverance, deep faith and the providential journey that led him to priestly ordination.

Dcn. Nathan will be ordained to the priesthood at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Avondale, Ariz., on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m., and will be joined by Dcn. Simon Ortiz, Dcn. Jeff Pooley and Dcn. Paul Graupmann, F.H.S.

On the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Bishop John Dolan turns to one of the most well-known passages of Scripture (John 3:16) and “The Trinity,” a 1577 painting by El Greco.

Together, they form a window into the very heart of God. As the Father holds the lifeless body of His Son, the Father does not stand apart from suffering — He embraces it, offering not condemnation but communion. And as He presents His Son as a gift, we realize this is the essence of love poured out.

Ultimately, the Trinity is not simply an image to be observed.
It is the most profoundand dynamic relationship to which each one of us has received a personal invitation.
