Obituary
Pastor Darrell Glen Ojeda July 6, 1974 - June 14, 2022

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise” Psalms 100:4

You are cordially invited to join the Sunnyslope Community Church in Celebrating the life of Pastor Darrell Ojeda.

Pastor Ojeda was born July 6, 1974, in Denver, Colorado and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, comforted by his wife Tagine Ojeda and family members.

He was the fifth child, and the third son, of his late father Pedro S. Ojeda, survived by his mother Guadalupe (Lupe) Soto Ojeda. Darrell is survived by his loving wife Tagine G. Ojeda of sixteen years. He has five siblings three sisters, two brothers and their spouses, Cynthia, Gary, Kem, Kimberly and Geneva along with thirty-one nephews, twenty-four nieces, numerous relatives and friends. His mother-in-LOVE Rose Sullivan, whom he loved dearly, sister-in-law Tashana Julian and spouse.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father Pedro Santoz Ojeda, Grandparents; Jesus Maria Ojeda, and Genobeba Santoz Ojeda, Grandparents; Agapito Soto and Wenseslala (Bencie) Solis Soto, Uncles; Fermin (Duffy), Antonio (Tony boy), George Z., Joe T., George S., Aunt; Pauline, Cousin; Wanda and Neice; Lou Lou.

Darrell embraced his calling into ministry at a very young age when he discovered that worship was his passion, and worship would become his lifelong pursuit. He had an anointed voice and was a skilled musician. His unique ability to create fellowship through the tune of a song and the texture of his voice became the living room where he embraced, mentored, and inspired so many.

Throughout his ministry Darrell served as State Camp Director, Evangelist, and Worship Director for the Southwestern Region of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP), encompassing the states of Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. Darrell also loved doing ministry at the local church level, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Worship Director, Evangelist, Youth Pastor, and Christian Education Director. This incredible journey of servanthood led him, alongside his wife Tagine, to embrace his pastoral calling and start Sunnyslope Community Church.

He loved the COOGP! He was passionate about its history, its traditions, and its future. He loved the international and multicultural make up of his church. He always looked forward to its International Assembly, and the world-famous Bahama Brass Band. Darrell was passionate about his Lord and SaviorJesus Christ, preaching the Gospel, helping the hurting, encouraging the downcast, and serving the needy.

While earth suffers the departure of a loving husband, a caring son, and an incomparable friend, heaven celebrates the arrival of a mighty worshiper who has certainly entered eternity’s gates with thanksgiving and his Fathers’ courts with praise.

Our Pastor Darrell Ojeda went to be with the Lord yesterday morning. Although we are heartbroken, we rejoice knowing he is with our Heavenly Father. We thank all of our family, friends, churches, leaders and pastors for all your prayers and support these last months. Your love and support was felt every step of the way. As the family grieves please refrain from contacting them directly via text, calls, social media or showing up to their home. Any funeral/memorial service arrangements will be made known to the public once the family is ready. God is still good. Amen.

Pedro Santoz Ojeda
January 31, 1935 - April 19, 2022

You are cordially invited to join the Sunnyslope Community Church in the Homecoming Celebration for the life of Reverend Pedro Santoz Ojeda.

Rev. Ojeda was born January 31, 1935, in Schulenburg, Texas, and the Heavenly Father called him Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the age of 87. He dedicated his entire life to loving God and loving his family.

Rev. Ojeda accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in his youth and started his ministry as an evangelistin music with the Gentle Brass Band in Michigan. His passion for worship led him to compose several songs, one of which many still remember, titled “Love One Another”.

Along with his wife Guadalupe Ojeda, he dedicated his life to Pastoral ministry in the Church of God of Prophecy in the state of Arizona, where he started in the early 1970’s. He served as a Shepherd with unmeasured love and compassion to congregations in Yuma, Tolleson, South Phoenix, Casa Grande, and Cashion. Throughout his ministry he also served as a Church Planter, Evangelist, State Sunday School Director, CPMA Director, Event Interpreter, LiteratureTranslator, and more. One of his dear ministry memories was playing at the General Assembly with the Gentile Brass Band.

While he will be remembered for his kind spirit, compassionate heart, powerful testimony, hardwork, music, and craftsmanship, his true legacy will be his unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was always eager to preach the Gospel in season and out of season, and he embodied the words of Paul as he “became all things to all people so that by all possible means he might save some, doing all for the sake of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 9:22).

His legacy lives on in the life of his wife, their sons and daughters, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and the many generations yet to come.
