The Burnidge Soup Kitchen is a meal center and faith-based organization that provides healthy and nutritious meals to families and individuals that will help improve their quality of life physically and spiritually About Us Page
Established on July 31st, 2021, The Burnidge Soup Kitchen; a non-profit; meal-center; faith-based organization, was created from the idea of serving and providing food fo
r the needy from a feeding effort through St. We saw that during the summer months from our partnership opportunity that a lot of adults still went hungry after providing breakfast and lunch for children. So, in 2016, a meeting that connected Pastor Mike Burnidge- the then lead pastor of Northridge Community Church, Cave Creek AZ, and Pastor Mosley Ogbanga- Lead Pastor of Victory Community Church at Central Arizona Shelter Services in Downtown, Phoenix, piked the passion and spiritual insight to start the idea of the Burnidge Soup Kitchen. The Soup Kitchen will be sustained by committed volunteers who are willing to work hard to help us achieve our goals for the community coupled with generous contributions and possible grants to be funded from individual donors and Private/Corporate Organizations. The Need
At the time of our partnership with The Arizona State Department of Education, we discovered that over 20,000 children were served breakfast and lunch and most of the adults went hungry sadly. According to the last census conducted, we have about 11,472 infants & children, 3,743 teens, 14,659 youths, & 7,298 adults who were present. This shows us that we have a total of 42,656 residents in our zip code. Of this number 45.66% didn’t attend high school, 17% have some college degree and only 4% have a degree which means that only about 1,628 have either a 1st degree and/or a graduate degree showing the income level of the area. The median per capital income in 85017 zip code is $35,951. When this translates to households, for this zip code, it is far less than the state median income of $57,459. There has been less than a percentage change in income within the 85017-zip code area since 2010 while the data statewide shows a 7.66 increase. This shows that many adults in this zip code are poor-working class citizens. We believe that the soup kitchen would be able to provide breakfast and lunch meals to over 35,000 people (children and adults included)
