“If I fall, let me hide myself in my Redeemer’s righteousness, and when I escape, may I ascribe all deliverance to thy grace. Keep me humble, meek, lowly.”

"Then he began to upbraid the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent..."
~Matthew 11:20

Pastor and commentator G. Campbell Morgan observes the tensions some have with this passage and the temptation of many to skip ahead to the far more favorite verses 28-30 in the same chapter:

“This spirit of upbraiding seems to be so foreign to Him, so unlike Him; and yet such an idea of him reveals a very superficial understanding of both the cause and the meaning of His upbraiding. If we think it is foreign to His nature to upbraid, and to pronounce woe, because we think of Him as loving and gentle, we misunderstand love. Jesus is quite capable of being stern, severe. There is such a thing as the wrath of the Lamb, even though that description seems to contradict itself. If we are astonished, as we hear Him, in the midst of His teaching, upbraiding cities, it is because we do not understand love perfectly. Love is not always gentle, somethings it is rough. Love is not always uttering sweet, smooth things. By the very necessity of its own nature there are moments when its speech is rugged, scorching, devasting. We have neither understood the Master, nor His essential love, if we are really surprised in the presence of such a section as this”

For years, I resisted becoming my father. Now I thank God for the parts of him I am inheriting — most of all, his voice.

Not sure if we will ever attempt the same feat locally in the near future, but it is remarkable to see the end of the 96-hour consecutive teaching through the entire Bible. The embedded edited video from his record-breaking sermon which gives his powerful final summary to the whole journey is well-worth the watch:

And you think YOUR pastor goes long sometimes!

How in the world do I learn to share my faith? One undervalued way is by pursuing the peace of God through a genuine walk with Jesus.

The deepest impact two Christian apologists had on their respective recent appearances on one of the largest podcasts in the world was not in their lightning fast wit, their mic-drop moments, nor their charismatic charm. Rather, the host sensed something was different about both of these men--studied as they were and articulate as they are--that he was not sure if he himself possessed.

Such a cultivation of character is no quick fix. It is the work of a lifetime and the product of daily doings rather than an instantly implementable life hack. But the power of the possession of these fruits of the Spirit will make any apologetic attempts far more persuasive.

In March, British podcaster Steven Bartlett - the UK's biggest podcaster and an avowed agnostic - heard a presentation of the Gospel from apologist Wes Huff:
