Yesterday, Phillips Temple transformed Sacks Playground into an outdoor house of worship and community service for our Back 2 School Community Worship & Outreach Service.

From the basketball courts and jungle gym to the pool area, the playground became a place for praise, prayer, fellowship, and practical support for our neighborhood’s children and families.

What a phenomenal day! Through the generosity of our church family, neighborhood partners, donors, and volunteers, we were able to distribute approximately 250 backpacks, provide free haircuts, serve BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs, share water ice, and—most importantly—lift our community in worship and prayer.

We are deeply grateful to the many members of Phillips Temple who worked tirelessly to make this possible, as well as our community partners and donors whose support helped us serve with excellence.

A special thank-you to Chopped PhD for providing free haircuts to the community, our sisters and brothers at Emmanuel Lutheran, UpliftHer81, the vendors who generously provided services at deeply discounted rates, and the dedicated team at Sacks Playground.

We thank God for a powerful day of ministry, fellowship, and service. Today we rest; tomorrow, we prepare for the next assignment.
