The Rock Philly Welcome to the official page of The Rock Ministries of Philadelpia/The Rock Calvary Chapel of Kensington. Above all, it is a place that needs Jesus.

A Bible, boxing gloves and five boys … that’s how Rock Ministries started. With its goal to reach at-risk, inner city youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Rock has now grown to serve over 5000 kids through sports, arts, music, recreation, mentoring and Bible studies. Through our church, The Rock – Calvary Chapel of Kensington, we also serve the community with regular outreaches, support for addicts and others in need, a food pantry and most importantly, the consistent teaching of the Word of God. Our neighborhood of Kensington is known far and wide as a center of the drug trade, with all the crime and violence that it brings. It is among the poorest neighborhoods in America where homelessness and hunger are everyday realities. The Rock has been privileged to witness God work at work in this very dark place. He is transforming lives and bringing hope to this otherwise hopeless inner-city ‘hood! He truly is The Rock!

The finish line is in sight! 🙌🏗️ We’re just a few weeks away from wrapping up construction on the Rock Youth Factory! All the walls are closed up, and we’re moving into the finishing phases—getting closer every day to welcoming the youth of Kensington through these doors!

Soon, these rooms will be filled with young people building friendships, discovering their gifts, and hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We’re trusting the Lord to use this space to reach the next generation and do a mighty work right here in Kensington! ❤️

Keep praying with us—for the final weeks of construction, for our leaders as they prepare to open, and for every young person the Lord will bring here. May this be a place where lives are changed and the hope of Jesus takes root!

Grateful for our brothers and sisters from CC Farmville who served alongside us October 1–4! From coffee house and street outreach to youth night and a block party, they shared the love of Jesus with our Kensington community.

Thank you for your willing hearts and for joining us in the work God is doing here. What a blessing to serve together for His glory! 🙌

Every Monday, our girls step into the gym ready to work—building discipline, confidence, and strength. 🥊 Then we open the Word, because growing in faith is at the heart of what we do.

This week, they were in Mark 4, where Jesus teaches about receiving His Word and bearing fruit. Our prayer is that His truth takes root in their hearts and shapes how they live—inside the ring and beyond. 📖✝️

We’re grateful for the Lynchburg Mission Team and the many ways they served alongside us September 9–13! The team helped at our coffee houses, street outreaches, Youth Night, and a community block party at Hissy.

Thank you for coming to Kensington with willing hearts and ready hands. We praise the Lord for bringing brothers and sisters together to share the love of Jesus and serve our community!

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” — 1 Peter 4:10

We continue to make tremendous progress on the Rock Youth Factory!

If everything continues according to plan, we’re looking to be completed by the end of October!

Please continue to pray for the safety of every worker, for God’s continued provision, and most importantly, that every child who walks through these doors will be blessed, encouraged, and reminded that their life has purpose.

We’re getting closer every day, and we’re so grateful for everyone who has prayed, given, worked, and stood alongside us.

One kid. One family. One block at a time.
