The Rock Philly Welcome to the official page of The Rock Ministries of Philadelpia/The Rock Calvary Chapel of Kensington. Above all, it is a place that needs Jesus.

A Bible, boxing gloves and five boys … that’s how Rock Ministries started. With its goal to reach at-risk, inner city youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Rock has now grown to serve over 5000 kids through sports, arts, music, recreation, mentoring and Bible studies. Through our church, The Rock – Calvary Chapel of Kensington, we also serve the community with regular outreaches, support for

addicts and others in need, a food pantry and most importantly, the consistent teaching of the Word of God. Our neighborhood of Kensington is known far and wide as a center of the drug trade, with all the crime and violence that it brings. It is among the poorest neighborhoods in America where homelessness and hunger are everyday realities. The Rock has been privileged to witness God work at work in this very dark place. He is transforming lives and bringing hope to this otherwise hopeless inner-city ‘hood! He truly is The Rock!

Beware of hypocrisy. True joy isn’t found in putting on a show — it’s found in a real relationship with Jesus Christ.

When Jesus changes your heart, it’s more than outward religion. He gives freedom, peace, and joy that the world can’t offer. Stop living divided. Don’t keep one foot in the world and one foot with God.

You are called to walk in the light and live like you’ve been redeemed. 🔥

Our team is putting in the final preparations for competition this coming Saturday. We are excited to have 10 of our athletes matched against fighters from gyms across the tri-state area. We are so grateful for all of your prayers, encouragement, and support as we move closer to our annual “Rumble at The Rock” on May 30, beginning at 11:00 AM sharp.

We currently have 16 bouts scheduled, and we ask that you continue to pray for a safe, joyful, and memorable day as these young athletes step into the ring and compete for the championship belt. More importantly, pray that through sportsmanship, discipline, and fellowship, Christ would be glorified in all that takes place.

The work on the Rock Youth Factory continues to move forward!

We’ve now completed all of the plumbing and underground utilities, and with every step we take we’re getting closer to the finish line. It’s exciting to watch this vision continue to come together after so much prayer, preparation, and hard work.

We are grateful knowing this building will soon become a place where young people from Kensington can come to find safety, encouragement, discipleship, and the hope of the Gospel. We believe the Lord is going to use this space to impact countless lives for generations to come.

Please continue to pray for this project — for the protection of all the workers on site, for continued provision, and for the Lord’s hand to remain over every part of this work.

What an incredible weekend at the 2026 Rock Women’s Retreat! 💕

Our Rock Women gathered together for a powerful time of worship, fellowship, encouragement, and fun activities centered around this year’s theme: Sisters in Christ.

We are so thankful for the way the Lord moved throughout the weekend as women came together to grow deeper in their faith, build lasting friendships, and be reminded that we are stronger together in Christ.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this retreat such a special time. We’re already looking forward to next year! ✨

It’s official…The Rock is beginning the rebuild of a new property that will become a 10-bedroom step-down home for men returning from prison. This facility, will be called J Rock, will provide an opportunity for individuals to reintegrate into the community with dignity, structure, accountability, and hope.

Our prayer is that this home will be a place where lives are restored through God’s Word, God’s love, and especially God’s grace. We believe people deserve an another chance and a healthy environment that helps them become productive citizens while discovering their true identity in Christ.

Please pray for wisdom, provision, protection, and transformed lives as this important work begins.

We are excited to announce our annual boxing event, Rumble at The Rock!

Our newly formed boxing team will be stepping into the ring to compete against teams from several different states in this powerful one-day event. These young men and women have been training hard, growing in discipline, character, and faith, and we would love for you to come out and support them.

By purchasing a ticket, you’re not only supporting these athletes you’re also helping us continue the construction of The Rock Youth Factory, a place that will impact countless young lives for generations to come.

We are excited as we begin preparing for our annual Rock the Block community outreach! So many children and families will come together for a day filled with games, rides, fun food, a prayer tent, and many other resources for our neighborhood.

Please keep this outreach in your prayers as the planning has officially begun. We are praying that every child and family who comes would experience the love, hope, and kindness of Jesus Christ in a powerful way.
