Our Story
The Historical ENON Baptist Church was organized October 16, 1917 by the late Rev. Edward William. The first location of the church was the southwest corner of 12th and Harper Streets. Rev. William serves for 14 years and was called “home to rest” in September 1931. Rev. Charles Coffee was Pastor from June 1932 – January 1934, and on the third Sunday, January 1934, Rev. Joel F. Frazier was requested to preach. Rev Frazier continued to preach until he was called to be Pastor, April 1934. At this time there were 13 members under his leadership and the church progressed and moved in 1936 to 1224 N. 11th Street. The spiritual blessings of increase continued and in 1944 the church relocated to 927 N. 8th Street, and in 1948 relocated to 1433 N. 21st Street, during which time Rev Frazier had a weekly Radio Broadcast from 1944 through 1949. On the 3rd Sunday, November 1953, Rev W.E. Cook was called as Executive Assistant Pastor, (during Rev. Frazier’s failing health) and in 1955 Rev Cook became Pastor. Rev. Cook served 38 years, (and several ministers have served the congregation since that time). The Lord moved us into the 21st century and blessed us with Rev. S.D. Neely, Sr.
