If as your pastor I ask you how you’re doing spiritually, here’s what I want to know:
1. Are you presently trusting in Christ for the forgiveness of your sins?
2. Is Jesus Lord of your life, so that by the Spirit your sinful habits are being steadily replaced with the fruits of righteousness?
3. Is God’s presence in your life producing love for God and neighbor, joy in trials, peace that would otherwise be impossible, steadfast endurance, gentleness and meekness in your interactions, goodness, faith in God’s leadership and provision, and self-control?
If you confess a lack in any of these areas, my response will not be condemnation! It will be absolute joy that, by honestly acknowledging a need, you are taking a step toward wholeness.
Thank you for the honor of being your pastor, called and appointed to shepherd your souls.
