AN OPEN LETTER
to All who seek the Light of Gnosis
and the Pure Light of Truth
"There are four gates to one palace; the floor of that palace is of silver and gold;
lapis lazuli & jasper are there; and all rare scents; jasmine & rose, and the emblems of death. I, v. 51
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. IF you have been seeking long — and especially if you are already familiar with

the formal avenues of Initiation that have emerged in this century — then this present short letter may tell you most of what you need to know about the Esoteric Order of Truth. If you do not understand the terms and references on these first two pages, then simply read on, in the pages that follow, where a more careful explanation will serve as your introduction. Esoteric Order of Truth is an initiating Order — a modern Mystery School, nonprofit, which focuses on regular group work and the systematic teaching and training of its members in the spiritual disciplines of magick and mysticism. It combines methods and traditions of both East and West: the Ageless Wisdom of Asia's yoga and of Europe's Hermetic qabalah. The old grade ceremonies of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn have been recrafted to conform to Thelemic symbols and principles, but remain true to the original patterns called the "Cipher Manuscript Formulae." Nomenclature has, in places, been changed so as not to cause confusion with certain other terminology. A tremendous amount of residual sexism some overt, some exceedingly subtle, has been weeded out of the system. In addition to the simple "Knowledge Lecture" teachings praemonstrated by the old Golden Dawn, we have added many additional teachings and practices. There is especially much work added on self-exploration and self-knowledge, from multiple perspectives. We have discovered that there is a fairly precise methodology that prepares people for a lucid breakthrough experience in the conscious recognition and articulation (to themselves) of their True Will, and empowers them to do it. We operate on a "Three Ray" model of balanced development of Wisdom, Love, and Power, based upon practical methods that include intellectual training, meditation, and magical ritual at every stage of progress. Integrating these three forms is a Unifying quality that is the essence of self-knowledge (Self-Gnosis). The initiation rituals and other ceremonies are frequently described by members as having a tremendous beauty and strength. The regular group ceremonial celebrations, and the ongoing group healing work which we perform, are central to the training method. There are, of course, both mystical and magical practices undertaken at home by each individual, in addition to the work done together. We invite you to read further, and to ask questions. By this letter, we invite all to search themselves sincerely and decide if they are of us. Love is the law, love under will. The Grand Praemonstrator

This Mage literally lives between life and death.

His kingdom is the Sefirot of wisdom and magic, situated between the world or Sefirot of death (Daat) and the kingdom or Sefirot of life (Keter).

His soul is clothed in the physical body of Malkuth (the kingdom of matter) and he wears the crown of eternal life (Keter).

His magic wand can perform up to 32 spells or different paths, and it can take you to the 10 kingdoms or dimensions (Sefirot) with just a single wish.

He possesses all degrees of wisdom and can turn any desire into reality.

This Mage is a sage—someone with the ability to see what others do not, to feel what most overlook.

He is a being who, despite having the power to change certain situations, often refrains from doing so, for life has taught him that after great pain, something better always comes. Magic will always be his last resort—one he will never use against others.

They are usually solitary; little by little, through their transformation process, they distance themselves from the world, realizing that people do not want to change, and it is not right to force them.

It is very difficult to find one of these Mages, and when you do, it is because you have tirelessly searched for answers in your life. Just when you were about to give up, he appears on your path as if out of nowhere—to teach you that there are more worlds, to reveal the deepest secrets of your own soul, to show you that there are still unknown paths and places.

A mage is not just someone who practices magic; his true magic lies in his ability to transform everything. A mage comes to change the world—his own and that of others.

A mage can transform all hatred into forgiveness, all anger into calm, all fear into courage, all negativity into a lesson for the future.

They learn, watch, and observe beyond what you can imagine; no one can deceive them because they do not see bare bodies, but rather, bare souls.

A mage is a being of admirable wisdom, but to attain it, he isolates himself. That is the price he is willing to pay to become one of the most extraordinary beings to walk the Earth.

He is usually reserved, observant, and silent in his actions. He does not speak much, but when he does, he always leaves you thinking, hypnotizing you with his words, capable of making you change beliefs you held for years in just a few seconds.

These Mages can see beyond the shadows and the lies of society. They will never be understood, let alone accepted by the masses, for no one is more hated than the one who speaks the truth.

Ultimately, reality is flexible and subject to change.

Existence is the product of our perception, which is an act of selective attention and interpretation. That is why magic is as real as life itself.

So much has happened over the past 12 months, it can be hard to know where to begin in trying to sum it all up. As a fraternity, we’ve made incredible strides on our membership efforts, public awareness goals, and new lodge openings. Our Foundation has invested heavily in public education and vocational training in the Sacramento area. The Masonic Homes have expanded eligibility to serve more Masons and their families than ever before, and recently put the finishing touches on a brand-new skilled nursing facility in Covina. And Masonic Outreach Services have brought relief to Masons throughout the state and inspired our members to reach out and help others in need.

That last part is key.

If there’s a common thread to the work we do as a fraternity, it’s identifying the needs of those around us—and then working to fill those needs.

When we saw Masons from other traditions in need of senior care and relief, we met it through our Masonic Homes. When we saw a need for dual-language literacy support among refugee students in West Sacramento, we worked with our nonprofit partners to meet it. When we saw a need for new kinds of Masonic lodges to serve members of different backgrounds, or with specific interests, we helped them develop new lodges that could address those needs head-on.

That’s what we’re all about. So as we move into our 175th year as the Grand Lodge of California, I call on all California Masons to look around and seek out ways to help. Find out what the needs of your fellow members are. Identify the needs in your local community. Reach out to lodge widows and our wider fraternal family and ask what they need. By doing so, we prove our value as Masons and as a fraternity. We fulfill the obligations we all took when we became Masons. And we make good on the shared vision we’ve set for ourselves to create a world in harmony.

To all California Masons, thank you for your energy and generosity. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

Grand Master of the Masons of California

"The Baphomet is not a devil but a symbol of divine wisdom, the perfect equilibrium of opposites

Baphomet: The Occult Symbolism and the Knights Templar Connection

Baphomet is one of the most mystically charged and misunderstood figures in occult history. Through an esoteric lens, Baphomet represents the union of opposites, divine wisdom, and the hidden mysteries of the universe. However, its historical origins are deeply tied to the Knights Templar, who were accused of worshiping this enigmatic entity during their trials in the 14th century.

---

1. Historical Origins: The Knights Templar and the Baphomet Accusation

The Knights Templar, a medieval Christian military order, were accused of heresy in 1307 by King Philip IV of France, leading to their downfall. Among the charges:

- Worshiping a mysterious figure called Baphomet
- Engaging in secret rituals with occult or heretical significance
- Spitting on the cross and renouncing Christ

Theories About the Templar Baphomet
1. Misinterpretation of Esoteric Teachings
- Some scholars believe that the Templars, through their time in the Middle East, were influenced by Sufi mysticism, Gnostic beliefs, and Hermetic wisdom.
- The name Baphomet may be a corruption of "Mahomet"(Muhammad), as some accused them of adopting Islamic mystical knowledge.

2. Secret Knowledge & Alchemy
- The Templars were rumored to possess alchemical wisdom, sacred geometry, and Kabbalistic teachings.
- "Baphomet" may have been an esoteric code referring to the divine secret of balance and transformation.

3. Cipher Meaning: "Tem OHP Ab"
- Some researchers suggest **Baphometis an anagram for "Tem OHP Ab," meaning "The Father of the Temple" in Latin, possibly referring to the inner spiritual teachings of the Templars**.

Regardless of the truth, the persecution of the Templars led to Baphomet becoming a symbol of forbidden knowledge and secret wisdom.

---

2. Eliphas Levi and the Modern Baphomet Symbol

The most famous occult image of Baphomet comes from Eliphas Levi (19th century French occultist) in his book Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie (Dogma and Ritual of High Magic). Levi’s Baphomet is a goat-headed androgynous figure filled with esoteric symbolism.

Breaking Down the Occult Symbolism

- "Solve et Coagula" (Dissolve and Coagulate)
- Written on Baphomet’s arms, referring to the alchemical process of breaking down impurities and reforming into divine perfection**.

- Androgyny: The Union of Opposites
- Baphomet has both male and female characteristics, symbolizing the balance between masculine and feminine, light and dark, creation and destruction.
- This mirrors Hermeticism’s concept of the "Rebis", the perfected being.

- As Above, So Below
- One hand points up, one hand points down—representing the Hermetic Axiom that the material and spiritual worlds are reflections of one another.
- This symbolizes duality, balance, and the magician’s ability to unite both realms.

- Goat-Head (Capricorn/Saturn Symbolism)
- The goat is associated with wisdom, defiance, and initiation
- In alchemy, the goat also represents primal energy harnessed for spiritual ascension.

- Caduceus on the Stomach (Kundalini & Life Force)
- The intertwined serpents on Baphomet’s belly symbolize kundalini energy, sexual alchemy, and the balance of polar energies (Ida and Pingala in Hindu mysticism).
- The stomach (solar plexus) is where the transmutation of base material (lead) into spiritual gold occurs.

- The Wings (Divine Ascension)
- Represent spiritual enlightenment and the transcendence of earthly limitations.

- The Flame of Illumination on the Forehead
- The "Flaming Torch" symbolizes divine wisdom, the pineal gland (third eye), and the enlightened mind.

This Baphomet figure became a central symbol in Western esotericism, representing the true initiate, capable of mastering both spiritual and material worlds.

---

3. Baphomet in Freemasonry, Thelema, and Occultism

After Levi’s depiction, Baphomet entered modern occult traditions

- Freemasonry – Some conspiracy theorists link Baphomet to Masonic initiations, though no direct evidence exists in mainstream Freemasonry.
- Aleister Crowley & Thelema– Crowley associated Baphomet with the Divine Androgyne and the union of opposites, taking the name Baphomet as his magical title in the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientis).
- Luciferian & Left-Hand Path Traditions – Some see Baphomet as a symbol of personal divinity, enlightenment, and defiance against dogma

---

4. Baphomet’s True Meaning in Occultism

Baphomet is not "Satan" in the Christian sense, nor is it a symbol of evil. Instead, Baphomet represents:

1. Balance and Duality
- The reconciliation of opposites—good and evil, male and female, light and dark.
- This reflects the Gnostic concept that only by integrating our dual nature can we achieve enlightenment.

2. Divine Wisdom & Hidden Knowledge
- The flaming torch symbolizes the inner light of the initiate guiding them beyond illusion.
- In alchemy and Hermeticism this is the Philosopher’s Stone—spiritual mastery over nature.

3. Liberation from Dogma
- Just as the Knights Templar were accused of heresy, Baphomet represents forbidden wisdom that challenges established religious control.
- It calls the seeker to self-mastery, self-deification, and enlightenment beyond the limits of organized belief systems

---

Final Thoughts: The Occult Legacy of Baphomet

Baphomet is a symbol of transformation, wisdom, and unity—rooted in Templar myth, alchemy, Kabbalah, and Hermeticism Its historical persecution by the Church mirrors how mysticism and esoteric knowledge have often been suppressed and demonized

For true initiates, Baphomet is not an object of worship but a symbolic key—a cipher unlocking higher consciousness, self-realization, and mastery over duality...

The Columns of the Temple

Unity

Ra, God of the sky, the sun, and the origin of life, is responsible for the cycle of death and resurrection. He is depicted with the head of a falcon and a sun as his crown.

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life, or the first tree of Eden, was a powerful symbol in ancient Egypt, later adopted by various religions and initiatic orders.

For the ancient Egyptians, the Tree of Life represented the hierarchical chain of events that brought everything into existence. The spheres or fruits of the Tree of Life illustrate the order, process, and method of creation. In Egyptian mythology, the unity represented by this Tree of Life marks the first step toward duality—the first pair (Earth and Sky).

It was said that the Tree of Life sprang from an acacia of Iusaaset, described as “the tree in which life and death are enclosed.”

Duality

Duality is represented by the Columns of the Material Temple.

The columns of the temple symbolize the evolution of the Law of Unity into the first Binary Law, expressing the balance of positive and negative, light and shadow, good and evil, in the harmonious application of equilibrium between matter and spirit.

The word “obelisk” comes from the Latin obeliscum, and according to the Royal Spanish Academy, it means "a very tall pillar, with four equal faces (representing the four cardinal points) and ending in a very flattened pyramidal point," serving as a marker of our union with God.

For the Egyptians, obelisks represented the “materialization” in stone of the sun’s beneficial rays, which enabled the development of life on Earth. These granite monoliths, often engraved with hieroglyphs, were placed at temple entrances as special supports.

Politically, obelisks and columns emphasized the ruler’s relationship with the sun god, exalting the sovereign as the mediator between god and humans during significant events. Religiously, they served as a support and connection between heaven and earth.

The Ternary

The Ternary is represented in the Spiritual Temple, as the union of the earthly binary with Unity.

There are still enlightened ones who have never forgotten nor overlooked the original teachings of Hermes, especially regarding the transmission of words of truth to those ready to receive them. As stated in the Kybalion:

"Where the master's footsteps fall, prepared ears open to his teachings. And when ears are ready to hear, then come the lips to fill them with wisdom."

The Laws of the Temple

Jewish Kabbalah (transmitted by Moses from Egyptian tradition to the Jewish people as a new religion)

Christian Kabbalah (transmitted by the Jews to the Roman Empire to shape Christianity)

The Merkabah is a magical healing technique from ancient Egypt, later incorporated into numerous religions and initiatic orders. This technique aids the mind, body, and spirit in healing, connection, and experiencing other planes of reality.

Light is the central element of this religious technique, and the wisdom it carries is meant to contribute to the social improvement of humanity.

: The Cross, the Christ-Sun, and the Mother Moon (Esoteric Meaning)
***
There are two energies that drive us. One is fear, and the other is love. We exist in one or the other. The energy of love is luminous, while fear, on the other hand, is dark. Where there is fear, there is darkness.

The Cross symbolizes crucifixion—the inner death of all our egos, of our personality—to give way to a new spiritual life, so that the inner sun may rise and our light may shine.

We must die to our previous state in order to be reborn into another state of being, like a plant that must perish so that another plant may grow from the same seed. Essentially, this is the inner death of the old man, making way for the new man—the solar man.

The horizontal beam represents the horizontal path. It is the path that most of humanity follows unconsciously. It is the mechanical path that makes us be born, grow, reproduce, age, and die. Throughout this journey, we wander aimlessly, without direction, without a rudder, without a fixed course.

The truth is that horizontal life makes us live like "logs carried by the furious waves of the ocean." It is the path of materialism and ignorance, as most people believe they know everything. The irony is that they are unaware of their own ignorance, which is the greatest danger of a path leading nowhere—the path of the DREAM OF LIFE, which we have all followed until now.

The vertical beam represents the path to heaven—the road back home, to the Father, to the origin, to the very essence. It is the path of the revolution of consciousness, which can only be followed with awareness, effort, and voluntary detachment. It is the path of the death of our false selves.

As we know, the cross is depicted as two lines intersecting at the center. It is at this very point of intersection that the spirit of man flourishes and becomes one with the Great Creator.

Thus, the cross represents life between two worlds—one, the world of men and forms, the horizontal path; and the other, which at the same time gives us the opportunity to fully experience the spiritual kingdom, the vertical path. Both paths are necessary for the realization of the Self.

Holy Week is the sacred time when, on Resurrection Sunday and upon the Cross, the following meet:

The Father Sun and the Mother Moon.

Easter is always calculated according to the requirements of the Secret Tradition, in order to correctly symbolize the cosmic significance of the event. In this sense, both the Sun and the Moon are necessary factors so that Easter is not merely a solar festival.

It is not only the passage of the Sun through the Equator, as occurs every year at the March Equinox, that matters here. The first Full Moon of spring must also occur after the March Equinox.

Thus, Easter Sunday is the day of the Equinoctial Resurrection of the Father Sun and also of the Mother Moon, pouring their blessings upon the Earth.

The light of the March Sun must also be reflected by the Full Moon before dawn breaks on Earth. There is a profound and hidden significance in this method of determining Easter.

Under the light of the Easter Sun arose all the founders of the patriarchal religions: Hermes, Buddha, Moses, Jesus Christ, etc., for they were initiated into the Mysteries of the Sons of Set, whose father was the god Ra himself.

Under the light of Isis, or the Mother Moon, all the fruits of the Earth are always conceived by the grace and power of the Father Sun.

Thus, for eternity, the Father Ra, who is in the heavens, will joyfully receive the spiritual fruits of his beloved children.

.

There exists a silence that is neither a definition nor a concept.

There exists a silence that is not found in the Scriptures.

There exists a silence that is not absence but presence.

This silence cannot be created or constructed through thought.

This silence is the fullness of life.

This silence is Love.

This silence is neither within nor outside oneself. It is.

When we experience this silence, we deeply perceive that it is our true home. In a way, it is the monastery in the sense of a home without a home, where all doors are open. We profoundly perceive that wherever we are, we are at home.

It is a silence that cannot be reached. We cannot attain it because it is already there. Only, there is so much noise within us, so much agitation, that we cannot hear it.

This silence happens. This silence arrives when the mental system has quieted, has shut down, when it no longer produces constructs.

Since we cannot silence the mind through sheer will, we can only resolutely cultivate a conscious attention to each moment—a mindful awareness that absorbs us into the living reality of each instant. It is in this absorption that the mental system can fade away and give way to silence.

When we experience this silence, our life changes.

This silence that is neither a definition nor a concept.

This silence that is not found in the Scriptures.

That silence is life.

It is the dwelling place of being.

The Eternal Kingdom of Light has three aspects; that is why we speak of the three great mysteries of the Light.

The first mystery concerns spiritual rebirth, with the entry of Light into the inner microcosm of body, mind, and spirit.

The second is related to the rebirth of the soul, with a new radiation of consciousness that takes shape in our lives through the inner fire.

The third involves the rebirth of every being in a triple transfiguration, passing through a mystical internal process that connects the microcosm with the Macrocosm.

These mysteries of understanding the Light will only be revealed to those who are worthy and who know how to open the various doors of wisdom.

In the Schools of Secret Tradition, one is influenced, at the very least, by the first mystery.

For this reason, the Temple remains closed to all public works and is accessible only to serious students.

This is why the School is entirely guarded by the aforementioned students, in their own interest.

All lukewarm, indifferent, or unworthy students are removed from the ranks so as not to be struck by the destructive forces of the first mystery.

The rest are continuously reminded of what is required of them.

No one can remain stagnant in mere contemplation or knowledge.

In the School of Mysteries, it is a matter of "all or nothing", and for that reason, this total responsibility must be placed upon one's shoulders.

If an unworthy creature enters as a student under the influence of the first mystery and insists on remaining in this School, then, under its action, they will be swept away by the Decuple Lipika (a magnetic web in which all karmic influences are present. These are projected into the brain, keeping brain cells in a state of magnetic life, while simultaneously linking the astral sphere or Macrocosm with the brain or microcosm).

If a student unworthily places themselves under the influence of the second mystery, their nervous system will be shattered in an instant.

And if an unworthy student comes under the influence of the third mystery, then their entire personality will have to endure these consequences threefold.

The forces of the mysteries only approach those who do not confront them with arrogance, disbelief, hypocrisy, or cunning. The forces that are poured forth, if they do not cause harm, will return to the messenger.

It should therefore be clear that all those who, after being warned, still proclaim themselves students without being so inwardly, will have prepared their own sentence of death, according to their lack of self-preservation.

All students of the spiritual school are expected to become Pistis Sophia—that is, a student who, in the knowledge of faith, consciously breaks through into eternal wisdom.

Such a student will be allied with Gnosis for their resurrection.

For all others who wander aimlessly within the school, they should reflect upon the cause of their downfall.

Being a scholar of knowledge does not make you a Master Magician.

Above all else, humility must prevail.

The truth is that very few today understand the sacred and complex nature of this word.

One does not have to look far to find people initiated into esoteric paths who lack even the slightest degree of humility.

The fundamental principles of philanthropy and charity are often spoken of but rarely practiced.

Many times, the ranks and titles obtained serve only as a means to boast and consider oneself superior to others.

Paracelsus himself pointed this out when he described his fellow physicians—who prided themselves on wearing the most extravagant medical robes but did not prioritize treating the sick or saving lives.

Unfortunately, this is a frequent occurrence, and decadence is creeping even into the most hermetic circles of esoteric societies.

Those who criticize this message will instinctively recognize themselves in these words because the truth hurts—but it hurts even more when it cannot be denied.

All the knowledge in the world will be meaningless if you do not use it to help humanity.

It is essential to remain humble, brothers. This air of superiority must be minimized. Being initiated does not make us greater than anyone else.

It is pointless to tear our garments, speak grandly, and proclaim philanthropy, equality, charity, ethics, and morality if these are nothing but empty words. While this does not apply to everyone, it is clear that primary values are being lost.

Above all, the Master Magician must be Invisible—hiding their face and body in a ritual far deeper than it appears.

When the veil is torn or the space around us is scratched, a passage is created—a breach between our world and the subtle world.

It could be said that the etheric plane is pierced.

The main idea is not to appear human, or at least not to appear as a living being in that world. Few have likely questioned the importance of a magician's attire—especially the significance of the movements made before an invocation.

The energies being manipulated are extremely volatile. Beyond humility and the understanding that one is unworthy of witnessing the raw tears in the subtle planes, magicians cover their faces and bodies with these robes to conceal their mortal, human presence.

When working, the magician assumes divine forms—some more complex than others. The magician draws power from nature to awaken abilities beyond any existing human comprehension.

Only those who have witnessed the workings of theurgy or a complex ritual have realized the forces and presences that may appear in those moments.

The robes themselves have protective power. No tool used by the magician is for aesthetics alone—everything carries deep significance and unimaginable importance in each magical process.

Understand that when we speak of "magic," we refer only to something difficult to describe or define.

Magic is that which has no apparent or common meaning within human psychological logic.

Yet, its effects can be witnessed time and time again.

So be wary when someone tells you, "The robe does not make the magician." Certainly, the magician remains a magician with or without it—but at the same time, the robe becomes an extension of their very skin when higher processes are at play.

Even so, there will always be veterans who need no objects or tools to perform their operations.

But it will always be important to remember where a true Invisible Master Magician begins.
