If you’ve checked the forecast, you already know the weather is not playing with us yet again, snowmageddon is on the way and I can truly say this has been a February for the books.

According to apple, we are under a Winter Storm Warning (Severe) starting at 7:00 AM. They’re calling for:

❄️ 10–16 inches of snow

💨 Wind gusts up to 40 mph

🌨 Snowfall rates over 2 inches per hour

🚗 Travel that could be “very difficult to impossible”

👀 Blowing snow and possible whiteout conditions

Translation for us: The Lord may part the Red Sea… but we are not testing Him on 52nd st, Island Ave., or 95. So once again, we will be ONLINE for worship tomorrow.

Now listen, this is not defeat. This is theology. Because this is exactly why Scripture reminds us that we are the Church and I had to remind myself of that.

The word for church in the New Testament is ekklesia which is the called out assembly. Not bricks. Not pews. Not a heating bill. Not a parking lot.

The building will be around long after us, as it has already weathered storms we can’t even imagine.

But the Church will still gather. The Church will still pray. The Church will still worship. The Church will still shout “Amen” in the comments. Because the Church is YOU. And we will worship safely.

Acts 7:48 reminds us: “The Most High does not dwell in houses made with human hands.” And apparently, tomorrow He’s not dwelling in snowdrifts either.

So stay safe. Stay warm. Stay off the roads. Put on your slippers. Make some tea. Log on to Zoom.

And let’s prove once again that a little snow can close a building…but it cannot stop the ekklesia.

See you today at 10 am

After prayerful consideration, and deep respect for our noses, ears, toes and each of you as The Lord's great creation...church will be virtual once again due to the weather.

As meteorologist Chris Sowers put it (and we’re listening):

“FROSTBITE (will happen) – YOU DON’T HAVE HOURS THIS WEEKEND YOU HAVE MINUTES.”

For my friends in the Philadelphia area this is about as dangerous as it ever gets when talking about cold weather…This is a brutal shot of arctic air! The source region is literally Siberia!
The coldest wind chills of 10 to 20 below are expected… Frostbite can occur within 20–30 minutes… PLEASE SHARE AND BE VERY CAREFUL THIS WEEKEND. This is life-threatening cold!

Saints, if Siberia is in the forecast we are staying home and logging in from the safety of warmth. I thank God that Zoom does not cause frostbite.

I pray that you all are staying safe, and warm and looking forward to seeing you on zoom. Sunday at 10 am.

Leadership is a sacred calling, and Bishop Tracy Smith Malone is a history-maker. As the first Black woman to serve as President of the Council of Bishops of the UMC, she is writing Black History right before our very eyes. She is also honoring the past while safeguarding history that some are working to erase.

She leads with Strength rooted in Faith and a vision for Real Change, showing that preserving truth is bouth courage and legacy. At Assembly 2026, witness how she is paving the way for Future Generations.

Grace and peace to all!

Because “the prudent see danger and take refuge” (Proverbs 22:3), and because we love you more than we love arguing over parking spaces 😇, we will be on Zoom again this Sunday.

While the church parking lot and sidewalk are clear, we understand that not all parts of the city are in the same condition. We don’t want anyone slipping, sliding, or side-eyeing a snow-covered parking space in the name of Jesus.

So this Sunday 2/1/26, grab your coffee, find your favorite seat at home, and join us online as we worship safely and in peace because unity is better than black ice and bad backs.

Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you on Zoom at 10am on Sunday! Our zoom link can be found on our website under worship.

Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that “for everything there is a season,” and beloved, this Sunday’s season is snow, ice, and staying safely off the roads. While we know the Lord can part seas, calm storms, and walk on water, we are also reminded in Matthew 4 that we are not called to test God unnecessarily; especially on icy streets and untreated sidewalks.

Your safety matters to us. Your well-being matters to us. And while we love seeing your faces in the sanctuary and or chapel, we love knowing you’re home, protected, and not risking a slip, slide, losing a parking space or poopsurprise snow drift even more.

With that being said, we look forward to seeing your faces through the virtual world of zoom on Sunday at 10am. Please find our worship link via our website
