Our parish serves the Catholic community in West Philly. Our parish over its long history has reached out to help those in need with Outreach, and has educated thousands of residents Catholic and non-Catholic through St. Ignatius School. Our parish was merged on January 27, 2013 with Our Mother of Sorrows. In 2009 our schools were combined to form Our Mother of Sorrows/St. Ignatius School with Pre

-K through 3rd at Saint Ignatius Campus and 4th through 8th grade at Our Mother of Sorrows campus. On July 1, 2013 Our Mother of Sorrows / St. Ignatius School became a Mission School of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A Quick History:
Our Mother of Sorrows parish was founded in 1848 in West Philadelphia. Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish was founded in 1893. It has served the Catholic community of West Philadelphia, reaching out to serve the larger community through Outreach serving meals 3 days a week, as well as educating thousands of students in Our Mother of Sorrows School before it was combined with Saint Ignatius School to create Our Mother of Sorrows/St.

Today not only marks the last day of school for our OMS/SI School it marks the last day for the school itself. After 100 years the school is closing. It is a bittersweet moment. Bittersweet that we say goodbye to the last St. Katherine Drexel project, say goodbye to traditions of CYO championships, 5th grade ballroom dancing, parent vs. student basketball games and many more. However we are happy for and Congradulate the last Graduating 8th Grade Class of 2026! We wish them many blessings on their future and ask the Lord to protect them and cover them on their journey. As Msgr. Britto says..."Run! Press On! Win!"
