There comes a time when every church must decide whether it will simply survive or stand faithfully on the promises of God.
The name Adonai means “God’s Possession.” This church does not belong to man—it belongs to God.
For more than 20 years, Adonai United Baptist Church has faithfully served this community through worship, outreach, prayer, and ministry. Today, we are engaged in litigation that has delayed our vision to rebuild, revitalize, and continue serving this neighborhood for generations to come.
As we watch communities change through gentrification and displacement, it often feels as though the people and institutions that have faithfully served these neighborhoods are being pushed aside. At times, it reminds us of the biblical story of Pharaoh—when powerful forces stood in the way of what God desired to accomplish for His people.
But our confidence is not in the courts, politicians, or developers.
Our confidence is in God’s Word.
Jesus declared:
“Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)
No lawsuit.
No delay.
No obstacle.
No opposition can stop what God has ordained.
We ask every believer, every friend of Adonai, every former member, and every member of our community to stand with us in prayer.
Pray that justice will prevail.
Pray that every obstacle blocking the rebuilding and revitalization of this ministry will be removed.
Pray that Adonai United Baptist Church will continue to be a light in this community long after this season has passed.
Because this church is not our possession.
It is God’s Possession.
And what belongs to God will accomplish His purpose.
