Ministry Update: We have a ministry called “For His Own Glory Ministries,” and at its heart, that is exactly what it is about…bringing Him glory in all that we do. One way we serve our community is through the upkeep of a blessing box located on Dr. Brantley Road in Madden. We do our best to keep it filled with food, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies so that anyone in need can be blessed. Lately, it has been especially busy, and for that I am truly thankful. It means people are being helped, and that is what matters most.
However, we have recently experienced some challenges. Items like broken furniture and bags of trash have been left at the box, and even the prayer request box has been filled with things like candy wrappers and chip bags. The inside of the box has been written on, and the doors are beginning to wear down from being slammed or mishandled. I am not sharing this to complain, because I know this box is a blessing to many people in our community and those passing through. I simply want to continue stewarding it well.
I have considered using trail cameras as a way to prevent some of the misuse. However, part of the heart behind placing the box where it is was to create a space where people could stop without feeling watched or exposed. I understand that many people are going through difficult times, and sometimes that is not something they want made visible or known publicly. I want to respect that dignity while still protecting what has been entrusted to us. I am asking if anyone might have suggestions on how to handle the mistreatment while still keeping the box open and available to bless others. My heart is to continue this work in a way that honors God and serves people well. I know Scripture tells us that in the last days the love of many will grow cold, and perhaps this is a reminder of the times we are living in… but I also believe kindness, generosity, care and love can still shine brightly. ❤️
