Escape, “Exodus: The Gospel According to Moses” sermon series by Pastor Donny Cho.

Trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, the Israelites learn that salvation comes not from their own strength, but from God. Exodus 14 points us directly to Jesus, our greater Mediator, who takes our place, bears God’s judgment, and brings us from death to life. We are saved not because our faith is strong or because we are good, but because of the One in whom we trust. Yet like Israel, we often let fear distort the past, cloud the present, and make us doubt God’s promises.

This sermon explores what we are saved from, how God saves us, and why He saves us—and what it means to live in the freedom of knowing that, in Christ, there is no condemnation. Whether you’re exploring Christianity, struggling with fear, or simply curious, take a few minutes to see what it means to cross over from death to life.

Aired on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 11:30AM.

The countdown is officially on, and we couldn’t be more excited for RE:NEW Conference!

There is so much in store for us—from worship and the Word to breakout sessions, fellowship, and time spent growing together as one church.

But more than everything that’s been planned, we’re praying for what only God can do. That He would meet us, renew our hearts, deepen our love for Christ and His church, and use this weekend to draw us closer to Himself!

Good news! There’s still time to register at metrophilly.org/renew.

In a season of change, how do we faithfully grow as a church rather than drift?

We are thrilled to continue our monthly series of Pastoral Articles on the Metro blog, written by our shepherds with discipleship in mind. Bring an open heart, pull up a seat, and come engage with us as our pastors discuss aspects of our lives, faith, and collective journey as a church family. This month, Pastor Donny Cho writes on The Changing Seasons and Life of Our Church.

Passover, “Exodus: The Gospel According to Moses” sermon series by Pastor Donny Cho.

The Passover reveals both the seriousness of sin and the astonishing grace of a God who provides the sacrifice Himself. On the night judgment came upon Egypt, Israel was not spared because they were more righteous, obedient, or deserving than the Egyptians. Every household stood under judgment. The difference was the lamb. Where its blood covered the doorway, judgment passed over, revealing a pattern at the heart of salvation: the debt of sin must be paid, yet God graciously provides a substitute in the place of His people.

At the cross, the judgment that passed over Israel does not pass over Jesus. The spotless Lamb bears it Himself. He is cast out, forsaken, and given over to death so that sinners can be brought near to God. And when Jesus declares, “It is finished,” the debt is paid in full. The gospel therefore does not call us to work harder to earn what only Christ can provide. It calls us to behold the Lamb: to rest in His finished work, receive His grace by faith, and let the beauty of His sacrifice reshape the way we worship and live.
