Metro Church

Metro Church We are a Gospel-centered church that seeks to bring glory to God through worship, genuine community, and serving our city.

We invite you to worship with us, and begin to see what our community is passionate about. Conceived in September 2008, and born out of a series of prayer meetings between 2009-2010, Metro Church was founded with the vision to transform the City by equipping its leaders and renewing its communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel: Rest, “Our Core Values” sermon series by Pastor Donny Cho.

In a world that celebrates productivity, ambition, and constant busyness, Jesus offers a surprising invitation: rest begins not by doing more, but by drawing near to Him. Through the familiar story of Mary and Martha, this message explores why so many of us live anxious, exhausted, and distracted lives, and how the gospel reorders our priorities by revealing the one thing that is truly necessary.

Luke 10 shows the difference between serving to earn love and serving because we are already loved. Martha’s labor is driven by the need to prove herself, while Mary rests at Jesus’ feet, secure in His acceptance. The gospel doesn’t diminish work or responsibility. Instead, it frees us from looking to achievement, approval, or success to give us the identity that only Christ can provide.

Ultimately, the gospel reveals that true rest is not found in what we do for God, but in what Christ has done for us. Jesus bore the ultimate burden on the cross so that weary sinners could find true rest in Him. If you’ve been striving to hold everything together or searching for your worth in what you accomplish, this message invites you to lay down your burdens, sit at the feet of Christ, and discover the joy of being fully known, fully loved, and finally at rest.

The Gospel: Fruit, “Our Core Values” sermon series by Pastor Donny Cho.

In this sermon, Rev. Donny Cho unpacks the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23) to show how the Gospel transforms our hearts from the inside out. Through the four types of soil, we’re challenged to examine how we receive God’s Word and what kind of fruit it is producing in our lives.

This message reminds us that true spiritual growth comes through the work of the Holy Spirit, the support of gospel-centered community, and the saving power of Jesus Christ—the ultimate Seed who gave His life so that we might have new life in Him.

“Attending Welcome Lunch gave me a sense of how Metro shows the love of Jesus to newcomers. When I went, I was the only visitor who showed up. I thought that they might postpone, but the pastors still took the time to get to know me individually while we enjoyed lunch together.” — Elias Ritter

If you are new to Metro East Falls, we would love to meet you! 👋

Please join us for a welcome lunch (on us!) this Sunday, July 26th after either service (9:30 AM or 11:30 AM) in the Conference Room at church.

What if worship is more than just singing?

We’re excited to share the latest Pastoral Article on the Metro blog. In this article, Pastor Timothy Shin explores why worship is far more than singing and why gathering with God’s people every Sunday matters. As our hearts are constantly being shaped by what we love most, God graciously uses gathered worship to retune our hearts to Christ through His Word, prayer, song, the Lord’s Supper, and the fellowship of His people. Join us as we rediscover the beauty of worship and the gift of the Lord’s Day.

🔊 Registrations for Gospel Academy are now open with limited capacity!

This August: MACE 213 — Bad Theology Summer Intensive with Donny Cho. We may think we grew up with good theology, but don’t always see how “bad” theology still shapes how we view God, salvation, and the Christian life — especially for those of us who consider ourselves conservative, Reformed, or gospel-centered.

Please visit metrophilly.org/academy (link in bio) for Metro’s Adult Christian Education (MACE) course offering, description, location, schedule, and registration.

Creativity: The High Tower “Our Core Values” sermon series by Pastor Donny Cho

In Genesis 10:32–11:30, humanity comes together with one purpose: to make a name for themselves by building a tower that reaches the heavens. The Tower of Babel reveals the pride and self-sufficiency that have marked the human heart since the fall. Yet even as God judges humanity by confusing their language and scattering the nations, His purposes are never thwarted.

This passage reminds us that true significance is never found in building our own kingdoms, but in belonging to God’s. While humanity strives to ascend to heaven through its own efforts, the gospel tells the greater story of a God who comes down to rescue His people. He fulfills His covenant promises and ultimately bring salvation to the world through Jesus Christ.
