Church History
In 1839, the Church was organized as a Methodist Church named Atkins Chapel with 6 members. William Curtis & Rev. Dale Hensley, renaming it New Macedonia Baptist Church. In 1921 the church was admitted to the Sweetwater Baptist Association with 8 Members and 50 enrolled in Sunday school. The Church deeds were recorded in September 1922. A new auditorium was built in 1965; the origin
al auditorium was used for Sunday school rooms until 1967 when it was torn down. In 1990, the outer shed used for homecomings was closed in to give the church a fellowship building and provide more space for Sunday school rooms. God blessed New Macedonia with such growth that in 2002 another new auditorium was built. The previous auditorium was converted into much needed Sunday school rooms, The Church has been served by 20 pastors and Rev Mitch Isbill is the current pastor.
