Chapter 1 - Understanding
The focus of this chapter is "Understanding How and Why God Uses Imperfect Vessels."
Did you ever stop and question why and even if God would ever use someone like you, with all your flaws? Trust me if He can use me, He can and will use you! As we review this chapter we will be reminded of God's love and His grace. How He can use anyone He chooses and in any way that He chooses. Consider Rahab a pr******te, Moses a murderer, David a murderer and an adultery. God uses the great and the small. Consider Mary, a peasant girl who became the mother of Jesus. Esther a slave girl who God used to save a nation. Put yourself in these pages as you read and discuss this lesson.
For those who don't have the book and would like to follow along, the following questions are food for thought this week.
1. Do you have to be perfect to be used by God?
2. How has God already used you to make a difference in someone's life?
3. What type of vessel are you?
4. What is more important: understanding your spiritual gifts or understanding the one who gave the gift?
5. What four lessons have we learned from the recruitment of Gideon? (Judges 6:11-16)
6. Is there anything you can ever do that would make you unusable to God?
7. What key lessons did you learn this week?
Verse of the week. Isaiah 55:8, 9 - "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
I pray that you and your partner are truly enriched by the time spent together.
