October 9th Finds
Heavenly Birthday To My Grandfather William David Young

” WILLIAM DAVID YOUNG HISTORICAL FOR TAKING BACK LAND HIS PARENTS & GRAND PARENTS WORKED AS SLAVES TURNING IT INTO A LEGACY OF LOVE TIL THIS VERY DAY OF GENERATION “

On this day, William David Young was born. On October 17, 1975 I was born as his granddaughter & at 3 months he took me down South to live with him for a while. He always told me the story about how we flew down there & he’d make it clear that the airplane was going in a pocket & that if one of us has a chance to live that it was gonna be me. I never asked until the very last time I saw him alive in 2007 once he told me the story again after not seeing him since I was about 20 years old & then 32 years old why was I going to be the only one who would live. He told me that he would’ve thrown me out with the parachute first & it was only for one person. I said “awe Grandpop. Then I said ” Grandpop how much does it cost to get land down South? He told me. A year later he would transition to be with the Lord & I came down South to visit my family that hadn’t seen me since I was a baby. It was a beautiful experience. I got to set up a whole new life for my future & the desire to leave my family & heritage a gift. Fifteen years later God made this happen. “
This ministry invests in soul winning, land & art & represents as a virtual museum online & art gallery on Fine Arts America. Also can be found & verified on Google as ” Evangelical Alumni Foundation SC & when you search Google’s images my Grandfather’s Black & White Abstract of him & my Uncle Mackie image becoming as one is the dominating first of images in the search engine’s landing page. Not to mention on May 3, 2023 the Secretary of State officially recognized & registered our charitable organization as founded & verified. Therefore, it’s real & written in stone to the memory of my Grandfather William David Young of Rembert, South Carolina. Praise God.

08/21/2020

When we realize that everyone else can connect to God in the same deeply meaningful way we do, it should be easy to find reasons to deeply connect with them. Our appreciation of their soul and its well-being should encourage a relationship that is significant, selfless and sacrificial. A relationship defined by mutual appreciation of the One who made us is a relationship that will endure. In those instances, it will be a relationship devoid of all the stuff that makes our world unbearable and the people we run across insufferable.

When we realize we all possess the opportunity to be God’s children, we see hope in relationships. When we realize He has time for each of us, patience for each of us and genuinely loves us the same, we should find time to reciprocate that love in return. When we value people for who they are and not what they do for us, we begin to see them as God does. When that becomes our de facto way of thinking, our simple interactions will change and our deep connections will grow exponentially. When we know the people in our lives are meant to be loved, served and valued, we begin to see how God loves, serves and values us.

Right now, God is actively seeking a relationship with you that is life changing. He wants you to know you’re special. He wants you to know you’re made in His image. He wants you to know you’re the most valuable thing in this world to Him. He wants you to know Him because He knows you.

Relationships define us. Make sure the relationship that defines you best is the one you have with God. When that’s true of you, every other relationship will be blessed by God’s presence. If He’s a part of your life, then He’s also a part of your marriage, your friendships, your random encounters with strangers and every other relationship the world uses to define you. When He’s a part of who you are, the world knows who He is.

Subdividing Basics: What You Need to Get Started
By LandCentral
May 21, 2018

Are you looking for a way to increase the value of your land? Then subdividing might be the answer. Whether you want to divide the property among family members or simply turn a profit while unloading a few acres, subdividing is a great way real estate investors increase their property value. While subdividing varies state to state, some steps are universal.

Check out LandCentral’s Subdividing Basics: What You Need to Get Started:

#1: RESEARCH
The first step to any real estate venture is always research. From researching the market to researching the property, knowing your stuff pays big in the game of real estate. When it comes to subdividing, there are a few things you need to know first:

The subdivision process for your area – Check the website of your local planning, zoning and/or development office in your area to see how the subdivision process works. If they don’t have it readily available online, give them a call.
Determine if your property is eligible for subdividing – Find out what zoning your property has and if needed, if it’s eligible for a re-zoning. Contact the municipal planning and building department in your area.
Check for restrictions – Make sure there aren’t local ordinances, neighborhood covenants or deed restrictions that may halt your plans before they start. A quick title search should tell you everything you need to know about any restrictions you may be facing.
Study the market – Is your area in need of small residential lots or larger parcels with custom built homes? By evaluating the current market conditions in your area you have a leg to stand on when it comes to re-zoning, building and eventually selling.
#2: MAP IT
Hire a surveying and/or engineering firm to survey the property you plan to subdivide and draw up a map of the land. This map will serve as a way to identify property boundaries, access rights-of-way, easements, etc. This survey will also tell you if your property is indeed eligible for subdivision.

STEP 3: APPLY
Yep. Just like everything else in life, there is an application process to move forward with subdividing a property. Once you’ve determined your land is eligible, simply turn in:

Application
Survey map
Certificate of title
Application fee
STEP 4: DETERMINE YOUR ROLE IN THE PROCESS
Once you’ve been approved to subdivide, this is where the real work comes in. What will your role be? Will you turn your 12-acre parcel into three 4 acre parcels, or will you create an entire subdivision named in your honor? Will you be working directly with the builders or will you being selling raw land and leave it to the new owners to build their dream home? Depending on your plan of attack, your subdividing road can be quick and easy or long and arduous.

Remember, the bigger the project in acreage and number of lots, the greater complexity. Either way you go about it, you’ll need to work with professionals to keep you on track.

Professionals you’ll need:

Title company – To verify the validity of the title and that the property doesn’t have any restrictions. A title company will also issue title insurance.
Real Estate Attorney – To cover your butt. These attorneys prepare and review legal documents to ensure you have all your ducks in a row. It makes for a smooth deal.
Land Developer – To help you determine what can and can’t be done with your land.
Real Estate Agent – To help you understand the location of your property and the market value and how it may appreciate or depreciate over time.
Municipal Planning and Building department – To help with zoning laws.
Planning, zoning and/or development office – To ensure your land qualifies for subdivision.
Surveyor or civil engineer – To draw up the map of your current property and your planned subdivision.
So now you know it all. Well, at least enough to take the next step. By understanding the Subdividing Basics, you’re on your way to increasing the total value of your land.

Still searching for the perfect vacant land to subdivide? LandCentral’s got you covered with these amazing parcels.

What Technical & Technological Uncertainty Mean in SR&ED - Claiming SR&ED tax credits | SRED
Many highly hopeful researchers, developers, innovators and engineers confuse these two terms … technical uncertainty and technological uncertainty. We already tackled the confusion around technological uncertainty and system level uncertainty involved in the SR&ED process in our article Technological vs System Uncertainty in SR&ED Claims.

SR&ED is About the Journey not the Destination
One of the key elements in determining SRED eligibility of a particular project is whether there was a technological uncertainty and technological advancement involved in your journey to achieve whatever new product or production process you were developing. Remember, creating something new or unique or something that brings a certain value-add to an industry does not, in and of itself, make it eligible for SRED.

You will need to show that the scientific research and experimental development you engaged in to create your product or process was NOT, in actual fact, “routine” or standard practice to address the problem you faced.

SR&ED reviewers are not solely looking for the business reason you decided to develop a product or process. While that business reason could lead to scientific research and experimental development and technological advancement, just because nobody else in the industry has your gadget does not make it automatically eligible for SRED. You will need to demonstrate why the current level of industry standard practice could not, within a reasonable doubt, achieve what you wanted or overcome the challenge you faced.

Definition of Technical Uncertainty vs Technological Uncertainty
The CRA defines a technical problem as one that is resolved by applying practices, techniques, or methodologies that are known by the company or available in the public domain. By contrast, a technological uncertainty cannot be resolved using the existing technology base or standard practice, and experimental development is required to resolve the problem.

“Technological uncertainty may arise from limitations of the current technology that prevent you from developing a new or improved capability. Technological uncertainty exists when you don’t know whether you can achieve a certain result or objective or how to achieve it based on generally available scientific or technological knowledge or experience.” Remember, even though you may create a new or improved product or process by overcoming a technical problem does not necessarily mean you have achieved a technological advancement or generated new knowledge—which is another key component of an eligible SRED project. [CRA SR&ED Guidelines]

A Tale of Two SR&ED Paths
Think of a technical uncertainty as a problem that leads you down a pre-existing path of knowledge and technologies available to your company, either within the current knowledge base, or from online/public domain resources. You may encounter several obstacles while navigating this path using your pre-existing knowledge, however, the resources available to you are sufficient to help you achieve your goal or solve your problem.

A technological uncertainty, however, requires deviation from the known, or knowledge within or readily available to your company. The solution for such a problem often has no obvious or definitive path not only in terms of which path to take, but also no way of anticipating what additional future obstacles you may encounter using any of the paths you identify.

To find out more about the difference between a technical uncertainty and a technological uncertainty see example 2 on this page – CRA SR&ED Guidelines.

Tips for documenting qualifying R&D expenses
Every company seeks effective ways to reduce their overall tax liabilities.

Although traditional tax planning can certainly reduce business taxes, there is often a limited impact, leaving owners and managers searching for additional savings opportunities. The good news is that the research and development tax credit is available to qualifying companies that have or are currently engaged in qualifying R&D activity. In years past many believed the R&D credit was available only to large companies for scientific and other complicated R&D activities, but recent guidance has shown that the R&D tax credit can apply to a slew of industries. The credit can be used to offset tax liabilities and has shown itself to be an effective means for incentivizing companies to make investments in the United States.

In order to qualify, taxpayers must apply the qualification criteria (the four-part test) to a business component (defined as either a product, process, software or formula). Once qualification has been determined, it’s essential to begin the documentation process to capture key information on qualifying expenses such as salaries, supplies and materials, and payments made to third parties for the performance of qualifying research. To help clients, prospects and others effectively document expenses, here are some tips below.

Create a Documentation Process

As is the case with most areas of tax, the burden of proof rests with the taxpayer. Establishing a documentation process is critical because it ensures the company doesn’t lose out on claiming any qualifying expenses due to a lack of substantiation. Beyond this, the proper documentation makes it easier to prepare a package supporting the position taken and gives easy access to this information should the IRS request documents or other information as part of an audit. When claiming R&D credits, it is always better to be proactive with the gathering of documentation versus being reactive to IRS requests. The bottom line is that a robust documentation process ensures the company will get the maximum value possible when claiming the credit.

Documentation Tips

Collect and Classify Documentation: If you believe your company has one or more projects that qualify for the R&D tax credit, then it’s essential to begin collecting all documents related to the project immediately. As mentioned previously, there is a four-part test that the IRS uses to determine if a project qualifies. Collecting documentation that speaks to these four tests is key:

• Technical Uncertainty: Collect documents that describe the project and technical uncertainty involved in the activities. This can be demonstrated through time sheets, records of resources allocated to the project, project records, meeting notes, notes that describe technical issues, design materials (including the assorted options considered) and feasibility studies if performed.

• Process of Experimentation: For many companies, this can be challenging to document, but it can include simulations, videos of prototypes, emails and other communications commenting on testing methods, design specifications, engineer drawings, and descriptions of project failures and lessons learned throughout the process.

• Technological in Nature: Gather documents that describe the project’s technical nature, including the design of system architecture, source code, presentations and corresponding meeting notes, engineer drawings, computer screenshots and information on technical data.

• Qualified Purpose: These documents should clearly highlight how the process results in a new or improved process or component. This can include project plans, an outline of benefits, case studies, project budget, meeting notes and copies of internal presentations.

Remember Third-Party Agreements: If your company is working with an outside vendor to provide research, design or other services, then it’s essential to collect copies of these contracts. It’s common for the IRS to request copies of these agreements and review them carefully to determine if the covered services qualify and are permitted to be part of the credit claim.

There are many requirements that a company must comply with to claim the R&D tax credit. Proper documentation is only one aspect of the process that companies are required to manage. That’s why it’s often beneficial to consult with an R&D credit expert to assess your situation and guide your efforts.
