Power for Living (Bible Study) , February 28th Recap: "The deception of perception" 2 Kings 6:11-18. Apart of growing up is recognizing the attack's of the enemy. You should not be stumbling over the same blocks that you were last year and next year you should not be stumbling over the blocks from this year. Each experience is meant to teach you and mature you. One of the greatest tools that the enemy uses on the saints is what we see. We are visual beings and if you are honest you have been often affected by what you have seen whether it has been good or bad. In our text we see the comparison between someone who is on the milk of the Word and someone who is on the meat of the Word. The young servant goes out and becomes anxious because of the enemy that he sees surrounding himself and the Prophet. Elisha on the other hand, is not deceived by what the servant sees because he knows there is a greater army that is with him. This story teaches us about how the enemy uses tactics to scare us and deter us from moving forward. It is imperative that we are not deceived by what we see in front of us and know who is over us and in us. I want to suggest that the young servant didn't see the heavenly army not because they weren't there the first time but because he wasn't looking high enough. David talks in psalm 121 about lifting your eyes to the hills from whence cometh your help. Could it be that you don't see your help because you are looking in the wrong place. I encourage you to not allow the enemy to distract you or deceive you. Keep your eyes on God because they that be with you are greater than they that be with them. I pray like the prophet did in the text that God would open your eyes so you would see how God is with you even now. So you will not give ear to the devils message of hopelessness and helplessness. God is only testing you so he can elevate you. You can only move up after you've been tested and in surgery, healing only comes after you've been cut. Stay focused in a few days you will see all this Pain has a purpose. I speak life, prosperity, and purpose to each of you today. LIVE! Please Review the lesson and I hope to see you all next week. Word on Wednesday , February 21st Recap: "Trusting God's Plan" Exodus Chapter 14. Apart of growing up is recognizing that you do not know it all. Maturity teaches us to ask for wise counsel before we go into unknown or even familiar territories. If we be honest many of our set backs have occurred because we have leaned to our own understanding and not acknowledged God or followed His detailed instructions. In our text we see that it is God that leads Israel a round about way because he has a plan greater than what they could see. Their concern was focused on getting free while God was looking long term at them staying free. Had they not followed God's plan pharaoh would have never followed them and if he'd not followed them God wouldn't have been able to swallow their enemies up in the Red Sea. An act that secured their freedom from Egypt not just for a season but forever. Let me challenge you to consider that the way God has and is taking you is very necessary to His over all purpose and plan for your life. Do not mess up your victory all because you won't obey God's plan. Sometimes it is difficult for us to trust God because of our lack of relationship with with Him. Spend some time with God and He will lead you through and to the right path. The promise is waiting for you but it's God's way or no way at all. Word on Wednesday , February 7th Recap: "The Purpose of Pain” Psalms 119:65-72. All this month our series topic will be "Growing Pains". Many of us have a very negative view of pain because of our lack of understanding. It is my hope that after this series and even after this lesson you will understand a little better about the affliction/pain in your life. In our text we see David's resolve After he has overcome a circumstance/situation. David is very honest that before trouble came his way he went astray. If we be honest we can also testify that many of us do not follow God as closely when there is no trouble/pain in our lives. This weeks point is "Pain is used to alert you there is a problem". Think about it...the way your body lets you know something is wrong with it, is the pain that you experience. If there was no pain you would never know there was a problem. So let me alter your perspective. Maybe God allows pain to come your way not to punish you but to notify you that there is a problem occurring. Otherwise you would continue down the wrong path to destruction. I challenge you to look deeper and see the issue that pain is trying to reveal. For David he said he went astray. But his end resolve was that the pain that was bad to him, ended up being good for him. Consider what you are going through right now and apply this principle and you'll find out that your pain has a purpose. I speak life, prosperity, and purpose to each of you today. LIVE! Transformation Tuesday, January 16th Recap: "Don’t look back” Genesis 19:1-26. All month long we are focusing on instructions. Many of us make the mistake of trying to build without first getting proper instructions. To ensure a successful build and a journey that leads to your destination it is important that we follow instructions. In our text we find that that instructions were given to Lot and his family but his wife failed to follow them. The issue is not what she did but it’s why she did it. This year i commission you to dig deeper than the surface so you can actually fix the problem. Lot’s wife turned around because of the attachments she had left in the city. It is imperative moving forward that you don’t start building where God only meant for you to pitch a tent. Had she not made investments in the wrong place it would have been easier for her to keep looking forward. Understand that God can not allow a person who looks back to prosper because it is a spirit that will eventually mess up your new place. It is impossible to look back and move forward at the same time. So i challenge you to make a decision today whether you will continue to hold on to your past or release it to make room for your future. People unwilling to let go are not fit to move forward.
