We are pleased to introduce to you the new Lead Pastor of Arch Street United Methodist Church, Rev. Hannah Adair Bonner!

Pastor Hannah is a proudly and publicly Q***r clergywoman in the United Methodist Church. Having graduated from Duke Divinity with a Masters of Divinity in 2008, she was ordained an Elder in 2012 in her home state of Pennsylvania.

A fierce advocate for justice, Pastor Hannah has served in various ministry capacities across the country: from protesting outside of the jail where Sandra Bland spent hours in custody, to working with migrants at the Arizona/Mexico border, to striving for LGBTQ+ justice in the UMC with the Q***r Delegate Caucus, and to many, many more moments of brave and faithful advocacy.

Pastor Hannah truly lives out the call to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.

We thank God for the gift of Pastor Hannah's appointment to Arch Street UMC and look forward to being led by her in our journey towards justice for all of our neighbors.

As we wrap up June, we want to acknowledge and honor the completion of Pastor Robin Hynicka’s tenure as Lead Pastor at Arch Street United Methodist Church after 22 faithful years. We are looking forward to seeing photos from Pastor Robin’s world traveling as he enjoys retirement!

Additionally, we are excited for Deaconess Darlene DiDomineck as she exits her position as Executive Director at The Center-Philadelphia and steps into a new role as Pennsylvania State Organizer for Bread for the World, a Christian advocacy organization dedicated to ending hunger.

Arch Street UMC and The Center-Philadelphia are immensely grateful for Pastor Robin and Deaconess Darlene’s co-leadership for over a decade. Please join us in wishing them the best in the next chapter of their journey and look forward to the ways they will continue to seek justice for the most vulnerable members of our shared community!

Reverend Hannah Adair Bonner was appointed the new Lead Pastor of Arch Street UMC and will be welcomed for her first day in the office tomorrow, July 1st.

As The Center’s board conducts a search for a new Executive Director, Barbara Shelly is currently acting as Interim Executive Director.

These leadership changes of course usher in a new chapter in the life of Arch Street and The Center as well. We are eager to continue growing our ministry, expanding our services to our unhoused and unsheltered neighbors in Philadelphia, and advocating for the humanity and dignity of all people to be uplifted and affirmed.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈💞

This Sunday, we are holding a Pride Sunday Worship Service & Panel Discussion on Arch Street UMC as an LGBTQIA+ Reconciling Congregation.

Panelists will discuss the UMC’s history of LGBTQIA+ inclusion, how ASUMC stands in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, and what it means for us to be a Reconciling, Justice-Seeking Congregation in 2026.

Please join us at 55 N. Broad Street (or virtually via our website) from 11am to 12pm this Sunday, June 7th!

We will also be tabling on Broad Street before and after the service.
