As announced during Section meeting, save the date for World Quaker Day 2026 | Como se anunció durante la reunión de la Sección, reserven la fecha para el Día Mundial Cuáquero de 2026.

“Peace be with you.” These were the first words the risen Christ spoke to his disciples - words which feel particularly important as conflict continues around the globe.

The theme for World Quaker Day on 4 October 2026 is Let Peace Be Among Us, with the supporting Bible passage, Hebrews 12:14, “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.”

FWCC is planning a massive open online Meeting for Worship on the day (4 October), bringing together Friends across borders, time zones, and Quaker traditions with a shared focus on peace.

Please save the date and start talking with your local meeting or Friends Church about joining together as a group. You may also wish to display this poster (pictured), which you can download in high resolution from our website here: www.worldquakerday.org

The FWCC Americas Executive Committee gathered at Woolman Hill in New England Yearly Meeting. The retreat and meeting centered on business and also exploration of the Conservative Friends tradition which began in this area, guided by former clerk Benigno Sánchez-Eppler. We offer thanks and appreciation to local Friends and to Lucy Fullerton (North Pacific Yearly Meeting) and Chuck Schobert,(Northern Yearly Meeting) as they end their terms of service on our Committee.

El Comité Ejecutivo de CMCA Américas se reunió en Woolman Hill, de la Junta Anual de Nueva Inglaterra. El retiro y la reunión se centraron en asuntos administrativos como en la exploración de la tradición de los Amigos Conservadores —la cual tuvo sus orígenes en esta región—, bajo la guía del exsecretario Benigno Sánchez-Eppler. Expresamos nuestro agradecimiento y aprecio a los Amigos locales, así como a Lucy Fullerton (Junta Anual del Pacífico del Norte) y a Chuck Schobert (Junta Anual del Norte), al concluir sus periodos de servicio en nuestro Comité.

[English follows] La Reunión de Sección en linea 2026 y el evento de lanzamiento de nuestra nueva cohorte de Conexión Cuáquera marcaron el inicio de una nueva temporada en toda la Sección de las Américas del CMCA. Una bendición de ambos eventos fue la participación de muchos Amigos cubanos a pesar de los grandes desafíos de conectividad. Durante la reunión, Colin Saxton compartió una perspectiva singular sobre la parábola del Buen Samaritano, invitándonos a profundizar en nuestra comprensión de lo que significa ser projimos buenos . En Richmond, Indiana, el grupo de Conexión Cuáquera asistió a la Iglesia Amigos de Richmond —una congregación latina de los Amigos— donde Kirenia Pérez Criado, pastora de la Junta Mensual de La Habana, reflexionó sobre el encuentro de Jesús con la mujer samaritana junto al pozo (Juan 4) En su intervención, Kirenia vinculó aquella historia —centrada en la atención a las necesidades mutuas— con la parábola del Buen Samaritano. Compartiremos algunas de las preguntas de reflexión planteadas en la sección de comentarios.

The 2026 online Section Meeting and the kickoff event for our new Quaker Connect cohort marked a new season across FWCC Americas. A highlight of both events was the strong participation by Cuban Friends, despite island-wide electricity blackouts. In that meeting, Colin Saxton shared a unique view on the Good Samaritan parable, inviting us into a deeper understanding of being good neighbors. In Richmond, Indiana, the Quaker Connect group attended Iglesia Amigos de Richmond, a Latino Friends Church where Kirenia Perez Criado, pastor of Havana Yearly Meeting, shared about Jesus' meeting a Samaritan woman at the well in John 4, drawing together that story of meeting each other's needs to the story of the Good Samaritan. We'll offer some of the queries shared in the comments.
