The Greater Love Temple of faith Church began its humble existence on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004, in a rented room at the YWCA, located in Wilmington, Delaware. McCurdy, Jr. over three years ago was now a reality. Elder McCurdy, Deaconess Dianne McCurdy & family gave up comfort and position in order to become obedient to the voice of God, which led them to accept the call to build a community f
or Christ. God continually blessed the ministry. After serving in the YWCA in downtown Wilmington, Delaware for a short time, God in His omnipotent wisdom and power opened the door for the Greater Love Temple of Faith Church to relocate to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where services were held in a rented store front building at 3852 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. Walking by faith under the direction of the Holy Spirit, with a few dedicated saints, Elder McCurdy began to seek a permanent edifice. Elder & Deaconess McCurdy faced denials and disappointments, yet he held onto the promises of God and continued in pursuit of the vision God had called him to fulfill. In June 2005 the Lord showed favor and miraculously opened the door for our congregation to purchase this building at 1344-48 W. Somerset Street. On October 14, 2009, the Lord looked upon our beloved Pastor McCurdy and called him home. Well done thy good and faithful servant, enter in to the joy of the Lord. The vision that was birth through this man of God was to continue on and be fulfilled through the next generation. On the 24th day of September in the year of our Lord 2011, Elder Tahnaya Peeples along side with her husband, Deacon LaRon Peeples, was officially installed Pastor of the Temple of Faith Church, Inc. with the Holy Spirit and in accordance of the will and desire of the officers and members of the church. As one body of Christ, Pastor Peeples and the members of the congregation have carried on the vision that was birthed in Pastor George McCurdy, Jr. As God continues to direct and give vision to the woman of God, it is her devout and earnest desire to lead God’s people in the way that he would have them to go. Pastor and Deacon Peeples faithfully follow our church mission statement as stated in Matthew 28:19-20. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” With power of God enabling her, our Pastor, gathers the saints and continue to outreach into the community by providing free breakfasts, organizing an Annual Community Day where the body and spirit of God’s people are fed, providing Thanksgiving baskets to families in need, conducting Vacation Bible School and numerous other acts of Ministry that drew, healed and delivered the members of this community and throughout the city.
