Tonight we started Part 2 of The New Heart of Wisdom
with Resident Teacher, John Baker. We had 12 people in person and 6 online!!!

There is still time to join the Foundation Program! We’re beginning Part Two of the book, The New Heart of Wisdom, which contains all of Buddha’s teachings on the vast path. We’ll be studying the paths of persons of initial and middling scopes, and the practices of love, compassion and bodhichitta.

Through listening, contemplating, discussing, and meditating on these teachings we’ll gain something very important, a familiarity that allows us to take Buddha’s teachings deep into our heart. Then, all of our experiences will be the path to liberation and enlightenment. More info in our bio.

Monthly on First Fridays • 7-8pm • Free
NEXT CLASS: Friday, May 1st at 7pm
with Kadampa Meditation Teachers
Everyone Welcome, no experience necessary. The pressures of the modern world can sometimes feel impossible to navigate. Balancing work, family, friends, and trying to find hope and meaning in the midst of life’s demands can be challenging. If you find yourself feeling lost and powerless faced with the horrors of war, famine, sickness and the many problems that plague our world, then you may benefit from Prayers for World Peace. You are invited to join us for a short teaching, a guided meditation, and prayers for peace in the world. This is a way to direct spiritual energy toward wishing happiness for all beings, through the process of correct imagination. All things arise from the mind, so if we can create a space where we imagine world peace, then we can make it happen together.

SUPREME UNCHANGING FRIEND
The Blessing Empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni, Teachings & Retreat
with Resident Teacher, John Baker
Saturday, February 7th • Empowerment & Teachings • 10:30am - 5pm
Sunday, February 8th • Retreat (3 Sessions) • 9:30am - 1:30pm
$55/Saturday Only • $75/Full Event
Please join us at KMC Philadelphia, February 7th & 8th, for a very special event. Saturday morning, Resident Teacher, John Baker, will grant Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment. The main purpose or aim of receiving an empowerment is to transform our mind from a negative state to a positive state. The word empowerment really means ‘receiving blessings’. Through making a special connection with Buddha Shakyamuni we receive powerful and profound blessings. Profound blessings directly cause us to gain inner realizations, which is the actual refuge that directly protects us from suffering.

Over the rest of the weekend there will be commentary based on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s 2000 Spring Festival teachings, and a retreat to learn how to take the teachings to heart in meditation.

Last retreat of the month !!! Tranquil Abiding on the Clarity of the Mind:
A SILENT Retreat
with Resident Teacher, John Baker
Saturday, January 24th • 10am - 4:30pm • $35 (Includes Lunch)
In our busy modern lives, it’s easy for our minds to become tired and tense, leaving inner peace feeling out of reach. But true mental clarity and lasting happiness are closer than we think.

In this SILENT day retreat, you’ll be guided in meditations and teachings that help access the natural stillness and spaciousness of your own mind. Drawing on the first stage of Buddha’s profound Mahamudra teachings, these practical methods offer genuine tools to calm the mind, reduce stress, and find balance in daily life.

Meditation on the sky-like nature of the mind is simple yet deeply transformative—perfect for both beginners and experienced meditators alike. Keeping silence throughout the day will help to reduce distractions and maintain stillness.

Join us for an inspiring day of rest, reflection, and renewal. Everyone is welcome

IMPORTANT US FESTIVAL REGISTRATION INFO!
Registration for the In-Person Festival opens Thursday, January 22 at 2:00pm EST.

Registration for the live-stream Festival will open closer to the event — keep your eyes open for announcements!

✨ Early Bird Discount
Book by March 24 at 11:59pm EDT to receive the discount.

A New Registration System
If you’ve booked a Kadampa Festival before, this system will look quite different — but don’t worry, it’s designed to be clear, smooth, and easy to navigate.

A few helpful things to know:
• The first page you’ll see is the Accommodations Options page. The price shown includes all teachings, accommodations, and all meals for the full event, so you can immediately see the total cost of attending.

Not staying for the whole festival? No problem— you’ll be able to adjust your options later.

• Because onsite accommodations are so limited, most are only available for the full five nights. If you’re coming for just a few days, you won’t be able to book these, but you can choose camping, which has no minimum stay.

• Staying offsite? Simply select Day Visitor at the bottom of the screen.

• The next screen lets you choose your other Festival options like festival dates, meals, and transportation options. Just follow the instructions as you go— the process should be smooth and straightforward.

If you selected a twin or double room earlier, make sure to have your roommate’s name ready – you’ll need to add it on this screen.
