807 years ago today Our Lady appeared to St Peter Nolasco asking him to establish an order for the redemption of Christian captives. The order is known as the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy or Mercedarians! ⛓️ 🛡️

FEAST OF THE INSPIRATION OF THE VIRGIN: commemorates the apparition of the Virgin of Merced, on the night of August 1 to 2, to Saint Peter Nolasco urging her to establish a religious order to console and redeem captive Christians. It is tradition in Mercedarian communities to celebrate the Midnight Mass on this day.
