The Bible isn't a scientific textbook, but it speaks some powerful truths about the cosmos. And during April, which is Global Astronomy Month, it's worth unpacking Sacred Scripture's insights into the stars and planets.⁣

For instance, why does the Book of Genesis speak of God placing the sun and the moon in the sky? This description underscores that these celestial bodies are mere creations, not deities, as the Babylonians and other ancient pagan cultures believed. God alone is worthy of our worship, not celestial objects. In fact, Deuteronomy explicitly warns against the worship of the sun and the stars. ⁣

Scripture demythologizes celestial bodies, putting forward a vision of the cosmos that is created and ordered. In many ways, Saint Ambrose Philly family, this laid the foundation for the scientific study of the stars, which we commemorate throughout April.

In just a few days, we'll celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. But you don't need to wait until then to thank God for his love. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a powerful devotion, and some people pray it every day at 3 PM — the hour of Christ's death on the cross. And all you need to pray it is a regular rosary, a few minutes, and a heart full of gratitude and love.⁣

Follow the link to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and make sure to remember all of us at Saint Ambrose Philly as you pray!⁣
