Happy 27th Birthday to one of our own, Santino Roccuzzo, U.S. Navy Sailor and son of Mrs. Shawn Roccuzzo, our beloved gym teacher. U.S. Navy Sailor Santino Roccuzzo, actively serving our country aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln now for more than 200 days with no ports, represents our country with bravery and heroism.

U.S. Navy Sailor Santino Roccuzzo spoke to our children last November on Veterans Day just before he was deployed on what is now an extended deployment.

Sailor Roccuzzo inspired our students with his experiences in the Navy, what serving our country has meant to him, and his gratitude to all of us for honoring veterans today.

Sailor Roccuzzo, on your birthday today, may you know how loved you are, how missed you are, and how grateful all of us here at Saint Pio School are for your service to our country! Thank you for protecting us and keeping us safe! We look forward to the day you are home and able to visit us again!

May our patron, Saint Pio, and our beautiful Blessed Mother watch over Sailor Roccuzzo and all of his shipmates aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Know that all of you are always in our hearts and prayers!

Happy Birthday, Santino! You are so much to be proud of and a blessing to us all! Thank you for your service and sacrifice! Your Saint Pio Family Loves and Misses you! 💙💛

Dear St. Pio Families,

I am calling on the prayers and strength of our community one more time. One of our beloved school mothers, Marybeth Ciasullo, has been hospitalized for the past two weeks as she courageously battles a very serious illness. While she has a long road to recovery ahead, her family continues to face each day with unwavering faith and hope.

When I asked Mr. Ciasullo how our school family can best support them during this difficult time, his answer continually remains the same, “Please, just your prayers.” As only our St. Pio family can do, I know we will surround Marybeth, Mr. Ciasullo, and their family with countless prayers for healing, strength, peace, and comfort during this time.

For those who are able, I am also sharing the family's GoFundMe page. Please know that any support you can offer whether through prayer and/or donation is greatly appreciated.

I also want to thank each of you for the extraordinary love and generosity you have shown to our precious Aria and the Bunodono/Hooks family. We will continue collecting donations for their family throughout the summer. Ms. Bunodono has shared how incredibly humbled and grateful they are for the overwhelming outpouring of prayers, kindness, and support as they continue to navigate this most tragic time.

I also want to share with all of you how touched I was by Mr. Ciasullo and Marybeth’s sister, Mrs. Coccia. Even while facing their own heartbreaking hardship, Mr. Ciasullo and Mrs. Coccia, one of our substitutes in our early elementary wing, wanted to make sure that our prayers and support remained focused on Aria and her family before anything else. For many years, Mr. Ciasullo has generously shared his gifts as our school DJ, he always brings smiles to our students’ faces and joy in their hearts. His love for our children has always come first, even in this time.

But, this is truly who we are as a St. Pio family. We have always carried one another through life's greatest joys and deepest sorrows. We pray for one another, we lift one another up, and we remind each other that no one walks alone.

Very recently, Father Weber, one of our former pastors, reminded me of something so important and it has stayed with me since- although we are facing some of the hardest moments our school community has ever experienced, “be assured God is with us and He will get us through this.”

Please continue to keep the Ciasullo family, the Bunodono/Hooks family, and all those who are suffering in your daily prayers. May God wrap His loving arms around each of us and grant us His Grace and healing each day. May we be reminded of the love in our community and never forget we are a family.

All my love always,
Mrs. Russo

My Dear Saint Pio Family,

Yesterday, our precious Aria was called home into the merciful healing hands of Our Lord Jesus. I am certain that she was surrounded by the love of our Blessed Mother and embraced in the arms of her Mimi Danielle and her father.

Thank you for allowing us some quiet space and time to begin to navigate the loss of our beautiful Aria.

Aria’s smile will continue to light our hearts, her playfulness will forever remain in our memories, and her feisty spirit will always be with us. Her kindness, joyful sense of humor, impeccable fashion sense, creativity, and determination will never be forgotten. The deep love she had for her sister, Aamori, her mother, and her brothers will endure forever as she takes on a new role as one of their guardian angels.

Grief counselors will be available at school for our students this Thursday, June 25th from
10 a.m. to noon. We encourage families to take advantage of this support.

Our doors will be open for any student who would like counseling, needs a place to talk, wishes to sit quietly with friends, or simply wants to be surrounded by the love and comfort of our Saint Pio Family. We will be at school until 2:30 each day.

This school will always be your home.

May all who loved Aria, especially her family, find comfort in the love and support of family and friends. May the peace and grace of our Lord grant them strength in the difficult days ahead.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Please continue to keep Aria, Aamori, Khasir, Hasaan, Alyssa, and all who loved Aria in your prayers.

With deepest sympathy,
Mrs. Russo
